This is a good candidate for a review to be ripped to shreds by the "establishment"...
I have no idea what constitutes a good drink really. I have no idea how Absolut fares compared to other Vodkas. I bought my first bottle of the stuff as underager <gasp!> because of the marketing blitz. We've all seen them. Trendy ads that transform a mere bottle of booze into an art form. Call me a slave to fashion; I like Absolut. It looks good and tastes just fine. Their marketing blitz worked on me 12 years ago and still has it's hold on me today. I utter "Absolut Please" without hesitation.
The campaign you see today all started in 1985 with Andy Warhol's depiction of the "bottle" and has since multiplied to include the likes of other notable artists, photographers, fashion designers, jewelry designers, etc. Apparently, there are approximately 500 ads in the campaign. It has proven to be such a coup for the company that many collectors have sprung up seeking these ads and other paraphernalia for their collections. My collection was just extensive enough to cover the unsightly ding marks on my first college apartment wall..
I dug up a website that seems to be quite a good start for Absolut fans. I'm waiting for their online gallery to be up and running in the summer of this year. You can check it out here...

In 1996, A compilation of the art of Absolut entitled Absolut Book., was released in hardcover (and now paperback). I would suppose this to be a "must" to any true Absolut aficionado.
Absolut furthers their marketing genius in cyberspace. Their website has really very little to do with their product other than the glorified bottle. It's more of a surrealistic ride into music. Rev up your shockwave, turn up your speakers, and go for a ride! I am not quite sure how to explain the site (or it's intent) Not sure who to give credit to as I was a little mystified and quite confused by it all. Links take you to some strange info on the History of the DJ, a Human Ant Farm (don't ask, because I was lost on that one), and somebody's depiction of biology (I think). Girlfriday was dazzled, but liking the funky sounds. Even my toddlers were hip to the beat. Beats the heck out of Barney tunes...

So now that I have you dazzled by my hodge-podge disguised as a Vodka review, I might as well slip in a favorite Canadian drink known as the "Caesar". No, not the salad. I gave up asking for it here in Philadelphia. No anchovies please. If you like Bloody Marys this is worth a try...
Necessary and Somewhat Necessary Ingredients
Taste to Suit
-Absolut Vodka (How much depends on you)
-Mott's Clamato Juice (yes, that's right)
-Worcestershire sauce
-Tabasco sauce
-A pickle or a wedge of celery
-celery salt
-Salt & pepper
-Lemon if you have it
-Ice if you have it. If you don't want it on the rocks, go chill that Clamato Juice.
Get out your favorite sippy cup, wet with a lemon wedge, dip into a shallow bowl of celery salt. You know, make it look like those spiffy Margarita type drinks.
Ice. Add it now if you're going to be an "on the rocks" kind of drinker.
The Vodka. Use between 1-2shots. I go for a shot and a half just to be original. Add to glass.
The Clamato Juice. Fill glass to 2/3 line.
The Worcestershire sauce. Give 2-3 shakes. Be careful. You're not marinating steaks here.
The Tabasco. Live a little. Give a few good shakes.
The salt and pepper. Again, use discretion. This is not a science, so go slow. Do the mad scientist thing and add a little this and a little that.
Stir. Taste good? No? Blasphemy. It's good. Get used to it.
Ok. Get that pickle wedge or that celery thingy. Plop it right into the fine glass . This isn't just presentation; this is the "meat" of the drink. I've had this drink as a meal a few too many times...
You now have before you a good Canadian Bloody Caesar.
Well, there you go. A little history on Absolut's infamous ads, a smackling of website information and a nice spicy drink to wash it all down.
This Swedish Vodka is now the number one selling vodka in the world. It was introduced in 1879 as an absolutely pure vodka using a new distillation pr...More at Napacabs.com
