I got this game after reviews in magazines, and they were right it is a great game. I will first start with some negatives. Sometimes on defense the outfielder will be no where near the ball and the ball magically falls into his glove. The way the players body is set up to throw is weird (sometimes) they could look like they will throw to first, but they end up going to third. It is kind of difficult to manage your way through the "map" of the game to try and find the option you want, you have to jump through a few hoops. When doing any sort of season it takes some getting used to how to change settings, trade players/sign players, etc. But you do get the hang of it, I don't really care for the idea that you can create a player anytime during the season, personal OPINION. Ok the good stuff. If you want to play a baseball game, play this one! No more of beating a team 20-0 on veteran level. You have to play actual baseball, and even though there are players that are really good, they don't hit home runs every time at bat, and you can actually strike them out. I love the controls! No more holding "A" and the direction, your buttons are the bases, this is so nice! I love the way the controls are they are simple and easy. The franchise mode is nice, one thing I didn't like is the choices of schedules to play. Also you are limited in the team names, but those are minor. The AI on this game is great, you cannot just throw the same pitch 100 times and they will miss it 100 times, the hitters catch on, you must keep the guessing and control your pitches. Batting takes some getting used to especially on the more difficult levels. I wish there were more camera angles for batting but you only get one. One thing I do love is the create a player option. This is wonderful, there are so many options to choose from. You can have a batting stance like Barry Bonds or a pitching style like Nolan Ryan. You can also have different colored gloves, shoes, batting glove, you can have body armor, it is great!!!! I highly recommend this game for someone wanting to play baseball and not have homerun derbys the entire time.
