| andruzzo's Full Review: AcerView 77E 17 inch CRT Monitor |
I have been using this monitor on my Windoze machine for about 4 months now.
The picture is bright but is not as clear as I would want. After
comparing it with my Viewsonic PT771, I can say that the picture is
_noticeably_ weaker on the Acer. Text is absolutely awful, in my
opinion, since it does not have the preciseness and crispness that
I expect. Of course, this statement I make after running the monitor
at 1280X1024, which is my resolution of choice on a 17".
At 1024x768, the Acer actually performs quite well. Although color
bleeding is pretty obvious, and especially at 1280.
My other big peeve is that it doesn't allow the level of tweaking that
I can get from many other monitors, but as others have mentioned,
if you don't care about fine tuning all that much, this won't matter.
It handles all of its resolutions solidly, but doesn't have support
for 1600x1280. however, on a 17", that resolution is a bit too fine.
For many people who are on a budget, or who are just
buying their 'first' PC, this Acer seems attractive. Many businesses
that want a large number of good, all round sturdy workhorses, should
also consider this monitor since it will save them a good amount on
their bottom-line.
However, for people who are more demanding of their picture quality,
and would like a monitor with more features, you should look elsewhere.
With about $50-$100 more you can find excellent monitors that outperform
this Acer.
