| tmbrife's Full Review: Acoustic Research AR PR1212 Subwoofer Speaker |
I use this 12" subwoofer with my Infinty Entra 2 speakers. It blends quite well together. The bass is some of the best I've heard. This is thanks in part to the passive radiator; I feel that vents/ports distort sound even with smaller subs. Finding a sealed speaker/subwoofer is rare, so I am very fortunate to own this. My Harman Kardon AVR 8000 provides the ARPR 1212 and Infinities with the clear signal they deserve. I have the crossover set to the "THX recommmended" 80 hertz. The sub has no problem with even 100 hertz. Together, few home theaters sound better.
The first thing you'll notice is the quality build. Upon further scrutiny, the rubber reflex will jump out at you (that's what lets it reach such thunder-like pounding). I keep the woofer cover off just to watch the sub flex. Serious, yet appealing, vibrations was worth my half a grand.
