drunkpunk's Full Review: Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 for Xbox
I bought this game at EB about 5-6 weeks ago...
I put it in and started to make my own skater....
Career Mode
-----------
In the career mode, you basically choose a skater and play with him/her through all of the levels and try to complete the objectives. When you have completed all of the objectives that is needed, the next level becomes available to play. The career mode has 3 special leveles where you compete against other skaters for high scores (the judges rank you based on your score). On those types of levels you will have to get 1 medal (bronze, silver, gold) to move on to the next level. Also, the levels you get in career mode with become available to play in multyplayer. Some of the objectives in career mode will be: Get a high score, get a pro score, get a sick score, collect s-k-a-t-e, get the secret tape, and other things. You can also collect stat points found in the levels (5 per level) to increase your skaters stats.
The Characters
--------------
This game has a lot of characters to choose from, and when you beat the game with them, each character has his/her own movie so there's a lot of replay value with that since you can play the game with every character to get each of their movies. Some of the characters are: Tony hawk, Rodney mullen, Andrew Reynolds, Chad Muska and lots more...
Creat A Skater
--------------
Create a skater lets you make your own person to skater with in the game. This also makes the replay value go up a bit because you can also play career mode with your skater. When your in create a skater you can choose stuff like: Hair Colour, Clothes, Glasses, Height, Weight, Age, Location, Style (Vert or Street), tattoes, shoes, and other things like those.
The unlockables
---------------
This game also has a lot of unlockables which add to the replay value. Stuff you can unlock are things like: movies, new boards, levels and skaters (with a cheat).
To get the movies you have to play career mode with each skater and complete all the levels. To find the new boards you just have to look around in the levels of the career mode (1 board per level), I also heard that there's a new level added for the xbox version of THPS3 but I haven't found out how to get it yet...
The stats
-----------
One of the other things you can do in the game is collect stat points in career mode to make your skater better for when you play other levels in career, or multyplayer. Some of the stats you can make better are: Ollie (jump), Speed, Rail Balance, lip balance, Manual balance, Air, hangtime, Switch, and Spin.
Multyplayer Modes
------------------
In multyplayer you can play a lot of modes against one other player (or 4 players with system link).
The modes you can play are:
Free Skate - You just skate around and try out your tricks.
Trick Attack - Try to beat the other player by getting a higher score than them.
Slap - Try to knock down the other player more than he knocks you down to beat him.
King Of the Hill - Try to keep the crown on you for as long as the time limit says.
Grafitti - Try to make different objects (ramps, rails, tables and other things) your colour by doing a good trick on them. At the end whoever has the most objects their colour wins.
Bad Things
----------
No xbox live - it would be a lot better if you could skate against someone else on xbox live.
The career levels do get kind of boring because if you want to beat the game with all the characters, most of the career level objectives are the same like: Get a high score, get a pro score, get a sick score, collect s-k-a-t-e, get the secret tape...
Secret Characters
------------------
Some of the characters that you can unlock are:
Darth Maul (Star Wars)
Wolverine (X-men)
Demoness
Kelly Slater
Neversoft eyeball
X-Ray
Ollie the magic bum ?
And some other people I think....
