| bmcnichol's Full Review: Activity Walker |
My son received the Fisher Price Activity Walker for Christmas from his Memaw and Pap. This is another one of those toys that will grow with your child.
When my son received this toy he was 8 months old and not yet even trying to walk. We laid the activity walker on the floor and he played with it like that. With it folded flat, it makes for easy storage. It was also very easy to adjust from the walker position to the laying flat position.
The Activity Walker is a walker with other baby activities on it. The toy can be played with lying down flat or as a walker. The activities are on a blue tray that will pop out from the white base. It has a yellow clicking dial, a mirror, colorful balls that can be slid back and forth and red and green spinners. It has a red plastic handle that can be used when baby is at walking age to hold onto. The walker has blue wheels that move freely. The instructions say that you can take out the blue tray and use the walker as a stroller but my son never used that feature.
The Activity Walker is recommended for children 7 months and older. It’s made of durable colorful plastic and wipes up easily (unless you get food stuck in the dial- that is a bit harder to clean) With the walker being made by Fisher Price, this was a name I knew and trusted for quality toys.
There are a few features about this toy I was not pleased with. For one, the handle is not adjustable. My son is tall and this made for uncomfortable walking.
My main concern was that the toys were on the front. My son would be walking with the walker and trying to lean over the handle to play with the toys. Both he and the walker would go tumbling. The walker is on the light side, which is good and bad. In this instance, it was good because it did not hurt my son when it fell on him. But if the wheels were further apart and the walker more heavy weight, I don’t think it would topple as easy.
We did have some problems with this toy on our tile floors. It went flying! On the carpeted floor, we did not have as much of a problem. It would be nice if the walker included some sort of brake. There is more then one mark on the walls from the walker running into it.
My son also lost interest with this toy rather quickly. He only used it a few times and it now sits beside his toy box, unplayed with.
As you can see there are both good and bad to this toy. Depending on what you are looking for, this may be a good choice for you. If I had to do it all over again, I would not purchase the Fisher Price Activity Walker. I think there are probably better walkers on the market.
