| tiffer0220's Full Review: Activity Walker |
We have had our Fisher Price Activity Walker in our house for about 5 1/2 years now. It was given to my oldest son as a gift when he was about 6 months old. For the first few months that we had the walker, it went and collected dust. For my son was just not thrilled with it.
I guess sometime before his first birthday, he decided he would give it a try. He was not walking yet at the time, so I used the activity walker in the lying down position. There are latches on the back of it that allow you to either use this so that baby can push it while walking and it is in an upright position, or you can lay it down flat. Having it lay down flat is the best position for those little ones who cannot walk yet. They can still push it and make it roll. Either position you put it in will not make the walker lose it's mobility. As he started to walk, he would use it in the upright position. There is an easy grip handle for the kids to hold on to while pushing it.
The Fisher Price Activity Walker has a dial much like an old rotary phone. Underneath the holes are different colors. When you turn the dial, you hear that cranking clicking noise that all babies seem to love. There are also flip down color pegs. You can push them and make them turn over. Not very amusing me to me, but the kids seem to enjoy it. There are also colored balls that you can hit and make them spin. There is also a mirror attached to the activity center. The mirror is not real glass. Instead it is almost like a glossy piece of plastic designed to resemble a mirror. I would rather have that than a real piece of glass. No chance for the baby to get hurt on the mirror.
The activity part of the walker can be removed, or you can flip down the top side of it and put some toys behind the activity part. Our walker has been used by both of my sons in addition to about 6 other baby's/toddlers who were visiting my house. One of the kids figured out that if you remove the activity center, you can put your doll into the opening and wheel it around as if it were a doll stroller. This was a big hit with my niece. To avoid her taking away my son's walker, I had to go and buy her one of her own, so she could have this newly designed doll stroller at her house.
My youngest son no longer finds interest in Fisher Price Activity Walker, but I still keep it around for whenever a little one comes visiting. The activity walker is made out of plastic and is very easy to clean. The only downfall that I have found is that you will more than likely get some marks on your walls from the child running into it with the walker. But that is only a small price to pay for your child to be happy with a toy.
This would make a great gift for a new mom or a child's first birthday. The walker is very durable and like I said, our's is still intact after 5 1/2 years.
