I have been using Acuvue 2 for 2-3 years with no problems at all. A couple of days ago, I was given a trial pair of contacts (Acuvue Oasys with Hydraclear Plus). I had wanted to try silicone contacts as I had heard they were better and the optometrist conferred and gave me a trial pair. -- First night, I get the right contact out with some difficulty. The left contact, I could NOT get out. I tried for 20-30 minutes and finallly gave up, afraid I might damage my eye. - I had NEVER had trouble getting contacts out before and I have been wearing contacts since I was 17 and I am now 29. I gave it one last try and got it out.

The next day, I put in a pair of my old contacts.
I called the optometrist's office the and they suggested putting some rewetting drops on my fingers before trying to get them out. I felt like it wasn't the best idea, but, insanely, I did put them back in.
Which brings us to tonight. I just spent an hour or more trying to get the darn things out! This is absolutely unacceptable! - I finally gave up, afraid, again, that I might accidentally damage my eye.
Figuring that they would probably get worse the longer they were in, I decided to research as much as possible online while I could still see.
I found TONS of complaints on them -- ranging from itchiness, infections, ulcers on the cornea, VISION LOSS, loss of ability to wear contacts ever again, among others!! I even ran across some talk of getting together a class action lawsuit. Some people described their particular problems with them as "sucked-on-lens syndrome." I concur with that description.
Others noted that they found out they were allergic to sillicone - the principal makeup of them!
I do not think I am alllergic as I have not had the itchiness and other allergy sysmptoms described by the reviews I read. Many, many people talked about "very tight-fitting lenses" and "sucked-on-lens syndrome."
I thought I would NEVER get them out. I was feel despondent.
After more than an hour of intermittent trying and TONS of rewetting drops, I FINALLY got them out and put them STRAIGHT IN THE TRASH.
Please do not buy these.
I do not wish this horrible experience on anyone.
