| VTEC's Full Review: Adidas Accelerator Liga |
As I walked along the wall-o-cleats at my local soccer shop I had no clue as to what cleats I was going to purchase that afternoon. But as my mind wandered passed the rows of Nike, Puma, and Reebok's that were set up all along the store, my eye caught glimpse of something. A cleat unlike any other, something I had never seen before, something that would change the way I feel about cleats forever. (Now; to tell you the truth, I did something which no soccer player should, I bought these cleats strictly do to there appearance and not because there comfort or support.) So I picked the pair up and quickly asked the employee to bring me a pair in a size 10. While waiting, I decided to look at the shoe and observe it's general characteristics. The first thing that caught my attention was the attractive purple sole. The translucent purple bottom and the slightly slanted shoe lace track set the accelerators apart from most cleats aesthetically, and the flexible tongue, as well as, the black kangaroo leather gave these cleats the traditional touch they needed. After the man came out and I tried them on, I asked him about the advantages of this cleat over others (as a frequent Nike user I was quite curious), the sales man quickly mentioned the cleats were equipped with the most current technology Adidas had to offer. He mentioned accelerators have the "traxion" system that provides tons of grip with comprehensive blending and flexing for quick turns and movements (very important for all type of game play). Along with the "traxion", the accelerators are equipped with the "adifoot" which provides tons of support all along the foot. In addition, the kangaroo leather is extremely comfortable, flexible, and very easily broken in. After a quick walk along the store, I wrapped them up, paid the man $128.99 and bought them home. I anticipated my first game later on that week to try them out.
Later on that week (game day) I put them in my bag and prepared to leave for my game. Upon my arrival, I laced them up and prepared to take the field for my match. Upon the whistle, the game began. Through out the progression of the game I noticed the tightness around the ankles, that were uncomfortable at first, but later loosened into an incredible fit, that was not only comfortable, but, extremely comprehensive to my every movement. Also the kangaroo leather provided excellent ball feel, that allowed better ball handling, as well as, better shooting ability. In addition to the excellent leather, the "traxion" also help make this shoe the perfect cleat. Throughout the game (played in less then perfect conditions with drizzle and long grass) not one slip, fall, twist of the ankle or uncomfortable predicament what so ever. I was quite impressed when I exited the field that day.
Overall, I feel that these shoes are an excellent pair of cleats. There not only attractive and unlike most cleats, but, there very comfortable and fulfill all the needs of every soccer player. The only pain you'll feel is the feeling of getting them dirty during game play.
