The Bottom Line: Pick a pair and your feet will be very happy.
I have been wearing Adidas for many years because of their excellent product line and wide selection of shoes. I have owned a pretty wide variety of Adidas shoes over the years, such as the first generation of Clima Cool shoes, Grey suede shell toed shoes, a pair of Adidas hiking shoes from way back in 1999 which are still kicking as good as the first day I wore them and too many others to list.
I got two different styles of the Adidas SuperStar Retro. Grey pair from America's Department Favorite Store in the mall called Sears because that is where I bought my first pair of Adidas shoes at a very reasonable price. Plus Sears usually have their shoes on sale a good bit of the time. The other pair was from Finish Line on sale too and was a custom made limited edition for Finish Line. The Finish Line version was very neat since it is white with blue stripes that changed color as the angle changed...they were a real head turner with the girls and I even had a guy offer to buy them off my feet for one hundred fifty dollars since finish line no longer carried them.
Usefulness in Gym
I love these shoes on the treadmill because the grip is very firm and steady. Due to being light weight and being relatively durable they make an excellent running shoe because they do not leave your feet feeling heavy when engaging in running on or off a treadmill for thirty minutes or more.
I like doing squats with these shoes because the midsole feels firm and solid. Honestly these shoes are very versatile but I mainly wear the white pair with blue stripes for show every now then as opposed to the grey pair I ran around in the woods, played basketball, play badminton, and I even work in them.
The Adidas SuperStar are very comfortable because the midsoles have a great deal of shock absorption;however, I found them to be excellent for arch support and have never needed to use a pair of Dr. Scholl's insoles. And the rest of the shoe as far as comfort goes it is excellent and not many shoes can match the enduring comfort for the shoe overall in the heels, arch, and balls of feet.
The SuperStar Series to me is an unrivaled classic that looks good.
My personal experience is that Adidas SuperStar in general they tend to be very durable as far as the insoles, midsoles, and soles are considered. Normal wear and tear they should last two years or more. I personally do not recommend over doing it on the water proofer because it has a starching effect making the mesh more fragile from being made stiff.
Ease of Clean Up
All it takes to clean them up is some gentle/mild soap, water, and a rag. Personally I do not have to use that very often at all because they stay pretty clean looking from using a water proofer and rubbing a damp rag over the dirty areas.
I would recommend them to anyone who wants to buy an excellent pair of shoes that is for running or anything else whether it is walking or playing sports.
