wifemommyteach's Full Review: Adidas Copa Mundial Soccer Shoes
As a youngster, I played soccer for 12 years. I played K-league, AYSO, Club, and High School Soccer. When I was very young, my mother simply bought me the cleats that fit without much consideration for style or purpose other than preventing unnecessary slipping on the field. The first time she took me to buy cleats, they sales person recommended Adidas for me since my foot is broad at the ball, yet narrow at the heel. We found these to fit successfully.
As I began to get more serious about the sport, I began to do a lot more research about what equipment was technically the best. After asking many players about their favorite cleat, and reading up on recommended brands, I made the choice to try out a pair of Adidas Copa Mundials.
I knew that these shoes would fit my foot well because of the typical Adidas cut, I just wasn't sure that I could justify paying nearly $100 for the Copas when I could buy another pair of Adidas for $30.
The first time I slid these shoes on, I could feel that they were different. The upper was much softer and more supple than other pairs of cleats that I had owned. I learned that this was because they are crafted of deerskin instead of cow hide leather.
The sole was also much more flexible than any other cleat I had worn. I thought that this would be great for the quick and competitive style of play that I was used to.
As usual, I tried out the shoes at practice before I wore them in a game so that I could break them in. I didn't even need to do this! It was as if these shoes were pre-borken in! I had no hot spots, no sore spots, and no blisters whatsoever! This was abnormal as I had always had to get rid of the stiffness of new shoes at the sacrifice of my feet.
I also found that I had much more ball control with these shoes. Now how is that?? Well, remember how I said that the uppers were much softer? Well, that allowed me to get a better feel of the ball through my shoes. It was really great!
Finally, and regarding the main point of cleats, Adidas Copa Mundial's cleats hold up great through all types of turf and weather, and they have superior gripping capability for a round molded cleat. In fact, a pair could last me through two relatively dry seasons or an entire wet season. This is great hold up!
At this point I have probably owned 5 pair of Copa Mundials, and I was always a satisfied customer!
If you are a serious soccer player for whom comfort, body control, and foot control are imperative, I highly recommend the Adidas Copa Mudial.
