Why did I purchase these cleats?:
Well, when I got to Soccer America, I asked them for good cleats that had good support and would still allow me to play my game. The gave me a few selections and I tried them all on. They were comfortable and they were pretty good looking too! So I bought these cleats thinking, man will I be able to show my skill on the field. So my first practice I wore them to break them in, I was excited. I was happy with my play and I didn't see much different about these cleats and my other cleats except for the support. When I took my first shot, my life kind of went in slow motion because I was so ready for a powerful shot with the rubber on the front of the boot which is what it is supposed to do. When the ball hit my shoe, it felt good, but little did I know it missed the goal completely! They have very little accuracy! First I thought maybe I just miss kicked the ball but later it happened again! I was disappointed. But I said to myself maybe ill just get used to them. I am one of the players on my team who takes corners, so when I took my first corner, I couldn't chip the ball at all!
What kind of game do these cleats suit?:
I made the ODP (Olympic Development Program) team for my area, and for the first part of the tryouts I wore these cleats. I felt pretty good about my play, except again for my chipping and accuracy on my shot. The rubber does allow you to keep the ball to your feet. So when you make cuts with these cleats the ball stays very close and accordingly you can juke out players with ease. Also these cleats are very light weight and are durable. With the rubber for the power and the kangaroo leather for lightweight feel. So I feel it fits those who like to dribble a lot and lay it off and don't take too many free kicks, corners, or shots.
What do I love and hate about these cleats?
What I do like about these cleats it the comfort, feel for the ball and the durability of them. They haven't worn out at all, even though I have worn them a lot! My touch on the ball and ability to control the ball with these cleats are amazing too. What I don't like about these cleats are the accuracy and ability to let you chip the ball. Because the rubber on the front of the shoe, the ball doesn't slide over the front of the boot, therefore you can't chip. Again because of the rubber the ball spins A LOT and so you don't have that much accuracy.
What alternate products to I suggest?:
If you like to be able to hit the ball accurately, don't get these or any other shoes with rubber on the front. I suggest plain old kangaroo leather cleats. I believe simpler is better much of the time.
How have these held up?:
They are very durable and last for a while and even hold up in all the elements. Rain Snow Sun, anything. I believe that you could have these shoes for maybe full year or two, but you shouldn't have cleats for more than 2 years because the support goes away after a while on all cleats.
Good luck to you with your purchase and your soccer career!
