I bought one of these gizmos from Sharper Image. What a great idea! Recording shows directly from the TV, or VCR onto your iPod. I was hooked. It looks great, and it MAY work great with SOME iPods. Not mine. After messing with it for a few hours, i realized that my iPod (30 gig Video 5.5) is not supported. It CAN work, according to the website, but you need to upgrade the firmware on the iSee. The only way to do that is by uploading the firmware via you iPod. Since my ipod doesn't communicate with the iSee I cant do this myself.

I went to the website, and it says that you CAN send them the unit and they will do it for you. I followed the directions and sent an email to support to ask for an RMA number to send it in. I did not get a response. Over 3 weeks i sent 5 emails, none of which were returned. Finally i called. I left a voicemail. It was not returned. A week later, (3 days ago) I called again and the phones are disconnected. I called the fax number and it was also disconnected. Now i am stuck with a non-working video recorder for an iPod. It has been too long to return it to Sharper Image.

I have now learned my lesson and will do more research before buying something like this.

Keep in mind... You should check the website to see if your model number is supported right out of the box. If so, it may work. If not DO NOT Buy this. There is NO support. If you have a friend that has an older (prior to 5.5) ipod, you may be able to use theirs to upgrade your iSee and you may wind up with no problems. But even then, if you have a problem, then you are done because you have no where to turn. I would recommend getting a Toshiba Gigabeat. I love that for video and i will write a review for that as well.
