Pros: Comfort, durability, value, ease of use
Cons: None that I can think of!
Well, I've read the negative reviews here on epinions.com and frankly, I don't get it. Maybe theirs were bought earlier than mine; maybe the Queen is exceptionally resilient; who knows? All I can tell you is my experience, which is nothing less than excellent.
I bought my queen size Aerobed in May of 2002. I used it for 18 days straight when I moved into my new house, before my furniture arrived. At that time, I shared it with my 80 pound German Shepherd-mix dog, plus at least 4 of my cats, and for several days my husband (he was back and forth between our new and old homes in NJ and VA).
Since it was pretty much the only furniture I had in the house at the time, it served as a place to sit (so it had unusually high stress on the sides) as well as a bed. The dog jumped on it regularly (to chase cats, what else?); the cats are NOT declawed. The floor is hardwood, so no protection provided by soft carpeting or anything - plus don't forget there were little bits of cat litter scattered about, thanks to the kitties. No leaks.
And it was comfortable! I have a very bad back, and I felt the same when I awoke each day as I do using my regular bed.
Since its original use, I've used it at least a half dozen other times, for visitors (including my mother, who is 66 and full of aches and pains herself) who all thought it was very comfortable.
And recently, again, I used it in my bedroom when it was being painted - we had moved the regular bed to a guest room and were getting ready to put in my very comfy soft-sided waterbed up. It was in use at that time for at least three weeks, this time with TWO 75+ pound dogs and a plethora of fully clawed cats. Still no leaks.
I've traveled with it, to friends houses, and used it there - I love its convenience and compactness when deflated. Also love how I can adjust the firmness to my preference.
And I should note that I'm not a petite little light weight. I'm 5'10" tall and not what I'd consider skinny. My second dog mentioned above is a Rottweiler/Doberman Pinscher mix, and is somewhere between 75 and 80 pounds - and boy, does he have nails! He's only a year old, full of energy, and I wouldn't have been surprised if he had done damage to it, particularly when combined with my Shepherd. But nothing, not a leak to be found.
It inflates and deflates as easily as the commercials advertise. The price is right (about $129 - I got mine from QVC). It came with a mattress pad which I put on each time it's in use (could this be the difference between the negative reviews and my experience?). The pad has been laundered repeatedly and is still in great shape.
I've slept on futons and pull out couches, and the Aerobed definitely beats them hands down. Especially those awful pull out couches...
