| cgkel's Full Review: Aero Aerobed (Twin, Full, Queen, King) |
We purchased our Aerobed Queen Everyday with Comfort Control Wand in May of 2004 through QVC for $159. The immediate need at the time was for a temporary mattress for my husband and myself during transition from the home we sold to our new home. We had both settlements on the same day, so we had to move most of our belongings out of the old place during the weeks before settlement. Happily, our builder allowed us to use space in our new garage and basement.
So, we slept on the Aerobed for about 10 days, and now it serves as our second guest bed. It's a perfect solution for us. We don't want to use up valuable space in the third bedroom by putting a bed in there, when it is only need occasionally.
The Aerobed Queen Everyday with Comfort Control Wand also includes a well-constructed, comfortable mattress pad and a drawstring bag. The bag has webbed straps so you can carry it on your back if you're camping with it. It inflates and deflates quickly and easily, and doesn't require an engineering degree and brute strength to get it back into the bag for storage.
My husband and I are 50+, and I have some back issues. So I must admit that I was happy to get back onto my regular mattress after the move. There were two reasons for that. (1) Getting up and down from about 8" off the floor is no longer one of my favorite things to do. :-> .... and (2)My husband is 6' tall and weighs about 225. I am 5'1", and am not telling you exactly how much I weigh. Ha ha! But I will say that he weighs more than half again as much as I do.
Because of our difference in size and weight, the single comfort adjustment was not optimal. When the bed was adjusted for his comfort, I felt like I was rolling off. When it was appropriately inflated for my comfort, he was sinking in too much. So, for us to be comfortable, we would need dual adjustments.
But overall, we are more than pleased with our purchase. It filled the temporary need during our transition; and works very well as a second guest bed. I have two sons who live about 4 hours away from us; and it's not unusual for both to come with their families on the same weekend. For them, the Aerobed is fine. They're young and slender; and both sons are of similar size and weight to their ladies.
Now, the Customer Service Issue:
Shortly before Christmas this year, the pump on our Aerobed quit working. I knew the Aerobed would be needed for Christmas guests; so I contacted Aerobed Customer Service.
We were within the warranty period for the mattress. Their customer service rep got back to me very quickly with instructions to return the pump to them, and then they would issue a replacement. It was too close to Christmas to handle it that way. So I contacted the rep and asked if there was any way to expedite the process. There was no long waiting period on the phone, and no voice mail jail situation.
The Aerobed rep was helpful, professional, and very pleasant to deal with. She requested that I fax/email a copy of my QVC receipt, along with an email requesting immediate replacement.
In response, I got an email back from her, including a tracking number. Great service!
A couple of days went by, and the package did not arrive, and the information on that tracking number indicated that the package was not on its way. When I re-contacted the rep, she apologized and corrected the situation immediately by overnighting another pump to me. Her responsiveness ensured that I did have the replacement pump in time for my Christmas guests.
As it turned out, the original pump, for whatever reason, hadn't left the dock. It was the Christmas season, and people do make mistakes. I'm not sure who's fault that might have been (not hers, I am sure). But for me, the IMPORTANT issue here is that the Aerobed customer service rep CARES, and she took the appropriate action to ensure that the pump was here, as needed.
Kudos to the Aerobed people !!!!
I don't feel like I have enough experience with the bed as a total product after only nine months of ownership to pass judgment on its durability. However, since the web site would not allow me to continue without making a selection there, I chose the middle rating because the pump failed. Other than that, the overall construction of the bed seems to be quite durable.
