| flightrisk's Full Review: Aero Bed Portable Self-Inflating Bed |
Bought this to use while living in apartments. Was living overseas and needed a portable mattress to use for the several months I was back in the USA. Worked great the 1st time I used it, which was for about 4 months. Then put it in storage (carefully packed in the original packing), and used it again a year later. Sprang a leak along the one of the seams on the flocking side (these are the rounded seams that make the dimples in the top. Fixed it, then another seam on the next dimple sprang a leak a week later. Fixed that. Now a few weeks later it's developing yet another leak. I won't be fixing it, just throwing it away.
Ironically, when overseas, I bought a cheapo inflatable from a local Tesco Lotus, which my brother slept on when he visited me. That mattress is still going strong and it only cost $10 USD.
So my summation: This bed is very comfortable when it works, but only expect to get one season out of it. These leaks are manufacturing defects or simply bad design. At $90 USD and only good for a season, you'd do better with a cheap inflatable. I noticed they are manufactured in China now, so maybe that's an issue? The older Aerobeds with the attached pump never seemed to have this quality issue.
