| rfish's Full Review: Aero Raised Aerobed (Twin, Full, Queen) |
Probably everyone has seen the television commercials for the AeroBed, self inflating bed. Just take it out of it's carrying bag and plug it in and presto a bed for any visitor. Actually it's really that simple.
Need For a Extra Bed
Every home needs a spare bed. There are several options that we can look into to satisfy this need. Probably the most common is a fold-a-way bed. Unfortunately this takes a lot of space to store and usually isn't very comfortable (which might make the relatives not stay too long). Another option is to purchase a couch that converts into a bed. This is very expensive and also very heavy to move. We've had one of these for several years and it's not really worth the money.
Another option was to use an air mattress. We do have several of these from camping trips but they just aren't that comfortable either. They do take a lot less space than other sleeping alternatives but they still aren't perfect.
Finally comes the AeroBed which is a very well constructed air mattress that is comfortable and easy to store. I was very impressed with my introduction to the queen sized AeroBed a friend had so I began to look into the product line.
Choices
There are always choices and AeroBeds come in several sizes. The twin model costs $99.99, and is plenty for any single sleeper. The full model costs $149.99 and is very roomy. The queen size costs $179.99 and the king rings out at $194.99. All sizes are directly comparable to standard mattress sizes.
You can also purchase a washable quilted mattress cover for extra protection, comfort and convenience. The cover is made of a cotton polyester blend which you can machine wash in warm water with a mild detergent. Tumble dry on low heat. I highly recommend this option for all owners. The covers come in three colors, white, striped and logo blue and cost around $35. You will want a cover to protect your AeroBed.
Specifications
The AeroBed is made of a durable, heavy-duty vinyl with welded seems. It's coil system provides comfortable support and keeps it evenly inflated. AeroBeds fit standard size bed sheets (twin, full, queen or king). The powerful pump makes for fast easy inflation. You can adjust the air pressure using the one-touch comfort control. Just touch a button and the bed adjusts to your specific comfort needs.
Care and Cleaning
The AeroBed's heavy duty vinyl construction is non-allergenic, non-stainable and can be cleaned with soap and water or even mild household cleaners. Caution: Do not use strong chemicals to clean the bed it will harm the fabric. Allow the AeroBed to air dry completely before storing away after cleaning.
You should inspect the AeroBed before using. Keep the bed away from sharp objects. When not in use, store away in a clean dry place and avoid high temperatures. If you should "spring a leak" a small repair kit comes with each bed including instructions on how to fix small holes.
Limited Warranty
The AeroBed is fully covered against defects in material and workmanship for a period of 1 year from the date of purchase. The pump motor is also guaranteed for 1 full year from date of purchase providing you only use it for the purpose intended (inflating the mattress).
Overall Opinion
I am just under 6 feet tall and weigh 280 pounds and I found the AeroBed very comfortable. The adjustable air pressure lets you regulate the comfort level to your individual preference. Probably the only negative that I have found is that the mattress doesn't fold up and go back in the carrying bag as easy as you see on television.
I really feel that the AeroBed is a very inexpensive extra bed. If you have children that have a sleep over then an AeroBed will be a life saver. When the kids come over just take out the bed, plug it in, then inflate. When they go home just open the large plug and it deflates in 15 seconds. What every family needs.
