rapcon's Full Review: Aiptek Go-HD Flash Media Camcorder
I have had this little camera for 1.5 weeks and have put it through its paces. Using as a dash cam on a steady mount, holding it up to my telescope to create video of sunspots, taken some stills and my bottom-line is this:
Pros:
Cannot beat the price/performance ratio
I own a SD canon, EOS 10d, 20d, and Xti. Those cameras are expected to perform. The Go-HD holds its own as far as 5MP stills are concerned
Color saturation outstanding
When focused, picture is outstanding
Exciting bundle a lot of goodies for the price
8GB SDHC memory can hold nearly 4 hours of 720p HD video
Cons:
Audio microphone is of low quality or the audio codec is badly configured, hopefully this can be fixed with a firmware update
Battery life is about 30 minutes, take several because the camera can do more than one battery will allow
Focus is slow (I'd pay more to have the focus perform better)
No optical stabilization (I'd pay more for that)
Cannot record from power supply (battery only)
Even with the con list, I find a lot of satisfaction with this camera connected to a 37" Vizio LCD television. When focused, it is a beautiful picture. Holding the camera to my telescope eyepiece I was able to create a short video of the sun and the moon. The moon craters are visible and reasonably sharp considering the jitter created by handholding.
