| jlhin's Full Review: Airborne Effervescent Health Formula Dietary Suppl... |
I cannot even begin to express how thrilled I am that the winter season is coming to an end here in Georgia. Unfortunately, while the weather is warming up here, the germs are still sneaking around. A few days ago both of my daughters came down with colds. I knew I was going to wind up with it, and sure enough, I started getting it. Being the clever person I am, (I hear those snickers!!) I had a couple bottles of Airborne Effervescent Health Formula Dietary Supplement Tablets, Adult Formula on hand. At the very first sign of the sniffles I began taking this awesome herbal remedy. Did it work? Well, read on!
~*~Cost & Location~*~
I purchased my bottle of Airborne at my local CVS Pharmacy, containing 10 tablets for $6.99. You can purchase this at many pharmacies, or online at drugstore.com.
~*~Just The Facts Folks~*~
You are probably asking yourself "Just what in the heck is this stuff?" Let me tell you, by the time you finish this review, you'll be asking "Why didn't anyone think of this sooner?"
Airborne is, as the name indicates, an effervescent tablet. This unique formula contains 17 powerful herbal ingredients to help fight germs after and before they invade your body. You can take this amazing product at the first sign of a cold symptom, or before you enter a potentially germ infested area, i.e.; Wal-Mart, grocery store, movie theater, airplane, classrooms, etc.
Airborne was actually created by a school teacher who was, and I quote "sick of getting sick in the classroom." I say we all owe her a big "THANK YOU", don't you?
As I mentioned above, you can take Airborne before entering a crowded environment, or, at the first sign of a cold symptom. You simply drop one of the tablets into a cup of hot or cold water and let it completely dissolve. Repeat this process every three hours as needed. Airborne provides 3 full hours of germ fighting power!
There are two flavors of Airborne available, Orange and Lemon-Lime. The tablets come in a plastic bottle with pop top lid (not exactly child proof!) and are just a bit smaller than the size of your standard effervescent tablet (think Alka Seltzer if you will.)
So, What's In This Stuff?
I figured you'd ask that eventually! Okay, here are the nitty gritty ingredients:
Vitamin A (100% Acetate) 5000 IU
Vitamin C 1000 mg
Vitamin E 30 IU
Magnesium (Sulfate) 40 mg
Zinc (Sulfate) 8 mg
Selenium (Sodium Selinite) 15 mcg
Manganese (Gluconate) 3 mg
Potassium (Bicarbonate) 75 mg
Lonicera, Forsythia, Schizonepeta, Ginger, Chinese Vitex, Isatis Root, Echinacea (350 mg)
Other Ingredients: Citric Acid, Sorbitol, Sodium Bicarbonate, Natural Orange Flavor, Polyethylene Glycol, Aspartame, Mineral & Canola Oil, Riboflavin.
As I'm sure you can tell from the ingredients, there is a huge dose of Vitamin C in this product. This of course, is to help boost the immune system and kick it into overdrive. The herbal ingredients are also for boosting the immune system, helping to fight off germs. The Ginger is for nausea. There are no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives.
You can give these to children, simply give them half of a tablet. However, there is an Airborne for kids available.
~*~Finally...My Thoughts~*~
I initially purchased our bottles of Airborne when flu season was in full swing. I wanted to take every measure I could to keep my family from getting sick with the nasty virus. Despite my efforts, we still caught the flu, with lucky me being the first recipient. I was giving my children Echinacea at the time, and their bout with the flu wasn't nearly as severe. The second I started coming down with it my husband began using Airborne. This of course was the first test, and a big one, for this product.
While my husband still caught the flu, it wasn't anywhere near as severe as my battle with it. In fact, he had very minor symptoms, and within a matter of two days he was well again. I truly believe that had I taken this product before I went into Wal-Mart two evenings before I came down with the flu, I would have either avoided it or had a very mild case of it. Now, why I forgot to take it before entering germville, a.k.a., Wal-Mart is beyond me. I'll blame it on my husband...yeah, that sounds like a plan.
Now, fast forward to present time. I'm sitting here with a very mild case of the sniffles. At this point during a cold I am usually huddled under some covers, sniffing Vicks Vapo-Rub and being miserable. Fortunately for me, my brain finally kicked in, and when I first started noticing the cold symptoms I took an Airborne. I have continued taking one a day for the past three days. I have no doubt in my mind that this product is the reason why I am not suffering miserably from my cold. While it didn't necessarily keep me from getting it at all, it has certainly made the symptoms much less severe.
When I started sniffling, my husband immediately started taking Airborne as well. He had not had any cold symptoms at that point, and, after taking this product for three days, he still has no cold symptoms. Simply coincidence? Possibly I suppose, but I definitely think it's this product working miracles!
I'll be honest with you. I don't remember to take an Airborne each time we go into a crowded place. My brain simply doesn't function in that manner. However, there have been several times when my husband will remember to take one and that's my cue to take one as well. On those times we have taken them before entering a public place we have both come out unscathed. I shudder to think of what germs we have avoided when remembering to take these tablets. It's just as scary though when I don't remember to take them!
I'm sure you are wondering just how Airborne tastes. Now, I am not particularly fond of effervescent tablets of any kind. I hate taking them and I will avoid doing so whenever possible. I purchased the Refreshing Orange flavor as the Lemon-Lime just didn't appeal to me. While this certainly isn't the worst tasting effervescent formula I have ever tried, it still has that taste to it. Seeing as how it's an effervescent formula, there's really no escaping that, is there? The Orange flavor is tolerable. You won't want to drink it all in one gulp, and you certainly won't be begging for more. But, you'll be able to get it down. It has a slightly sweet taste to it, which really doesn't help me get past the overall taste, but, it's a nice touch. Now, just a word of warning, take it with cold water, not hot! Trust me on this, I've been there, done that, and had the stomach churning to prove it.
One thing I'd like to warn you about is how Airborne looks once it is dissolved. You may think you dissolved a tablet of dirt when you look into your glass. There will be flecks of brown and some other odd looking grainy textures floating about. There will also be a filmy bubble layer at the very top of your glass. Don't worry, just hold your nose, don't look in the glass and you'll do fine.
While the taste may not be all that pleasing, I really like how Airborne leaves me feeling after I drink a glass. Maybe it's all mental, but, I feel a bit more energized and better when I take this. My husband has reported the same feelings, so, either we're both mental (which is quite possible) or this product really does give you that boost of energy and well being.
~*~Overall Thoughts~*~
I would highly, highly highly recommend Airborne. I cannot say enough about how it has helped us to both avoid and fight germs. While the taste isn't necessarily pleasing, the fact that this product performs as promised makes it well worth it! Do you like getting sick? No? Then what do you have to lose? Try Airborne!
