You may have heard about Airborne by now. If not, then here's the skinny. These effervescent tablets are designed to help boost your immune system so that your body can better defend itself against germs. These do not claim to cure anything, but just give your body a boost. Airborne suggests you take this before entering crowded environments, such as airplanes, schools, offices, health clubs, theaters, etc., or at the first sign of a cold.
~ Packaging, Directions, and Ingredients
Airborne Effervescent Tablets come in a handy tube of 10 tablets. Just pull off the top of the tube to access the tablets. There's even a plastic springy thing that keeps that tablets from rattling around in the tube as you use them up. A tube of ten sells for anywhere from about $6 to $8. Shop around for the best price.
The directions for use say to drop one tablet in a small amount of plain water, and allow it to dissolve (about 1 minute), then drink. Can be used in hot or cold water. You can repeat every three hours, as necessary. Children take one half a tablet. Pregnant women or people on medication should consult a physician before taking.
I have the lemon-lime flavor, and I believe they come in orange flavor as well.
So what's in these tablets? The formula contains herbs and nutrients, even including ginger for nausea.
Vitamin A (100% Acetate) 5000 IU
Vitamin C 1000 mg
Vitamin E 30 IU

Potassium (Bicarbonate) 75 mg

Other Ingredients: Sorbitol, Sodium Bicarbonate, Citric Acid, Natural Lemon-Lime Flavor, Polyethylene Glycol, Mineral Oil, Sucralose.
~ My Experience
I've found that Airborne is perfect to take along when traveling by plane. You can ask for water, and just plop in a tablet, let it fizz away, then drink. I do believe it helps your body deal with the recirculated air in a plane to fight off any germs.
These tablets are similar to an Alka-Seltzer, as far as the way they dissolve in water. The taste, for the lemon-lime flavor anyway, I think is just fine. I actually like it. It's slightly sweet, not not much. It goes down easily and I don't dread having to drink it. The tablets seem to dissolve easily and fairly quickly, without leaving undissolved globs at the bottom of the glass. I've only used this in cold water.
I did get a pretty bad cold a while back and took Airborne, but not soon enough. I don't think the Airborne helped my cold, but then again, it's hard to say. It's been my experience, though, that if you use this prior to, or going into a crowded environment, it does help prevent colds and sickness. I won't travel on a plane without it anymore.
~ Final Thoughts
Airborne Effervescent Health Formula is pleasant tasting, convenient, and has all natural ingredients. While I cannot prove beyond a doubt its effectiveness, i do think it makes a difference to help boost your immune system. It has nutrients and vitamins, and it sure can't hurt. I always have some on hand.
