Facts: There are many germs in the air, some viral and some bacterial.
These germs are spread from person to person by coughing, sneezing, handshaking and just plain breathing in and out.
Germs are more prominent in crowded areas: schools, malls, airplanes, trains, eating facilities, work places and medical facilities.
The immune system in the body, fights against germs by building antibodies to specific viruses and bacteria. Injury and disease processes diminish the immune systems ability to do fight illnesses, especially if it is already compromised by underlying injuries and other illnesses such as, cancer, diabetes, flu, fractures, stress, depression, and just being run down.
Airborne is a dietary supplement to enhance the bodys immune system. It has the unique formula containing 17 herbs and nutrients, including ginger for nausea. These are the ingredients:
Vitamin A 5,000 I.U. (units)
Vitamin C 1,000 mg.
Vitamin E 30 I.U.
Magnesium 40 mg.
Zinc 8 mg.
Selenium 15 mcg.
Manganese 3 mg.
Potassium 75 mg.
Herbal extracts: maltodextrin, Lonicera, Forsythia, Schizonepeta, Ginger Vitex, Isatis Root, Echinacea.
Amino Acids: L-Glutamine, Lysine as L-Lysine
These are all based on a 2000 calorie diet.
The producers of this product proudly state: Airborne is proud of the fact that we import no powdered herbs. To ensure safety, purity and potency, we do our herbal extracting in America using whole plant material. This, to me, holds more clout than to think that the herbs were imported and not wholly monitored.
A new slant, praising the efficacy of Airborne; I had been sick with cold like symptoms for 2-3 days and was discussing this with my sister. She was voicing her pleasure and the positive effects of using Airborne, every 3 hours as directed, in her recent bout with the same symptoms. I figured that it couldn't hurt to try it. I dropped the round, disc shaped tablet and a little water in a glass. It started fizzing at once and the effervescence of the exploding bubbles gave off the aroma of pink grapefruit.I liked that!Wondering what yucky taste it would have, I hurried and gulped it down; much to my amazement, it was okay, with a faint pink grapefruit flavor. I did this every 3 hours for 24 hours and within two days was feeling much better, rather than the 8-10 days it usually takes to feel on top of a cold.
After I felt better, I took the time to study the product. The package itself grabs your attention. First of all are the menacing germs in a variety of shapes and colors, with weird facial expressions. Your eyes then travel down to see the people sitting on an airplane, looking like they are in different stages of having or getting an illness. Alongside the people, is written the different places you can be exposed to these germs:
Airplanes - Offices - Schools - Restaurants - Health Clubs - Theaters
The box color coincides with the flavor of tablets inside, green for Lemon-lime, pink for Pink Grapefruit. They also have a bonus offer, buy 6 get 1 FREE so you can get a savings with increased purchases, making it more economical. Prices range from a good sale of $4.99 to $8.00.
Inside the box-package is a tube containing the tablets. All ten tablets fit side by side in a round plastic container, they are easily dispensed one at a time, which is how you are to take them. This product is also safe for children and is available in AIRBORNE Jr. for kids or you can break a tablet in half for them, then dissolving it in water the same as for adults. Available too, are gummi lozenges for children. By buying all these products adds to your purchase of 6 and you can get 1 FREE sooner.
FACT: It is effervescent, meaning it offers 100% immediate absorption into the body system. This brings the relief needed sooner than having to swallow a pill and letting it get into the blood stream.
Negative Aspect: I found, however, that people who are sensitive to increased amounts of ZINC, like myself, can have the adverse side-effect of upset stomach and diarrhea. This can be lessened by eating a small meal or snack when you take the medication. Also, their disclaimer: These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease, can give the idea that it may not help at all or give only minor help. Some people feel they can only get better if they see a doctor and get a prescription for medication.
