I have heard the advertisements for Airborne and after I spent many dollars on over the counter remedies for the common cold, which can not be cured anyway, I thought I might as well try Airborne too. I'm glad I did because I love not getting sick.

This is the best selling dietary supplement in the USA however the effectiveness has not been evaluated by the FDA. It's hard to scientifically say if I would have gotten the cold if I didn't take the tablets or not. Some studies show that the product doesn't work. I say, it works for me. I don't get sick like I use to so I'm sticking with them.
Please consult a physician or pharmacist if you're already taking prescription medications. High doses of vitamins and certain herbs can interfere with the absorption of other medicines by making them strong or weaker.
These are not designed for everyday use. They are designed for short periods of time. Consult your doctor if you are considering taking them more often. They are not to be taken on days when another multi-vitamin are taken.
This is not approved for pregnant or nursing women and should not be used in conjunction with other vitamins. Ask a doctor.
These are rather expensive so I buy up a bunch when they're on sale. The average price is $7 for a 10 tablet bottle. They have these at grocery stores, drug stores, and in the pharmacy section of discount stores. I like to keep a bottle in different locations like kitchen and bathroom. A cup and water is required so it's not really practical to carry them with you all the time. The container is small enough that it doesn't take much room in the medicine cabinet. It's also helpful to have extra bottles if more than one person in your family uses them. Since they work to prevent colds it makes sense to have them on hand. There are only 10 tablets in a bottle and the expiration date is more than two years away.
I always start using these a few days before vacation and while I'm on vacation. The tablets come in a small round tube. It's small enough to travel with in a purse or bag. Vacation is one time that that these vitamins really benefit because vacation is stressful so can weaken your immune system. I'm also around a lot more people than normal. I come into contact with more germs by stopping at nasty rest stations or flying on airplanes with no ventilation. On top of all that, it's hard to get 3-squares with all the daily values while eating out at restaurants.
There are certain times at school when we are guaranteed to get sick. The first month that school is back in session and right after each of the school breaks. People go around and collect all the germs over the holidays and then share them at school when they come back. The package says that children can take ½ of a tablet. I would recommend checking with a doctor before giving it to a child as some of these vitamins are higher than the recommended allowance for the day. Also, this is designed to be a boost, not a daily supplement. There is an Airborne junior tablet sold for ages 4-10.
Effervescent means to bubble, hiss, and foam as gas escapes. The tablets are effervescent so need to be dissolved for about one minute before drinking. I prefer to use a disposable Dixie cup like are used for brushing teeth because the product leaves a residue around cups and glasses which does not come off in the dishwasher. The less water used, the better. I like to make mine equivalent to one shot glass. The stronger the solution is, the better it tastes. When it's really concentrated it tastes like orange juice. (Available flavors: Original Zesty Orange, Lemon-Lime and Pink Grapefruit.) I usually use this in the morning but it stomach if I haven't eaten. If it makes you nauseous try taking on a full stomach. It is in effervescent form because it's the most reliable way of the body absorbing the vitamins.
I've tried the generic brand and prefer the name brand better. The generic is not made or distributed by Airborne. The packages show the exact same supplement facts however the other ingredients (flavor and texture) are different. I have to wonder what quality vitamins are used in the generic. They smell different, look different and taste different. Airborn pledges that they ensure safety, purity and potency by extracting in America using whole plant material. Anyway, it's not the same product repackaged like sometimes happens with generics.
The whole point of using this product is to be ahead of the game. They can either be taken before you go into a toxic environment (like an airplane) or can be taken at the first sign of a cold. My first sign is when someone else in my family starts coughing and gets a runny nose.
It's important to note that vitamins are not a cure. The Airborne formula is not a cure. There's no cure to the common cold. What vitamins can do is strengthen the immune system so your body has a better chance to fight off a cold before you catch it. Once you're down with the cold there is no point in taking it except to build your immune system back up so you don't re-catch the cold from whomever you give it to. Not catching a cold also has a lot to do with getting rest, exercise and not being stressed. There's no supplements to compensate for lost sleep and exercise. You have to have the total package. This tablet won't work miracles.
The directions say to take every 3 hours with no more than 3 doses in a day. One tablet of the the vitamins is 100% of the the daily allowance not to mention what it's the food that you eat. I generally take two the first day, then one the next day or two until I feel like I'm safe. The price really adds up if you're taking 3 a day.

It's interesting, I've read where there's no evidence that this product works. Maybe it's all in my head. It works fantastic for me. I feel strongly that if I'm going to take cold medicine that I would rather it be Airborne for a few days than cough syrup and decongestants for two weeks. You can get a refund if the product doesn't work out so there's no risk in trying it. Just make sure you use it BEFORE you get a cold.
