This is one great looking CD player. I specifically chose this model for my convertible because of it's MAGICFLAP hideaway face. However, my nephew broke the magic flap during installation but I was able to order another thru a parts distributer listed on AIWAs website.
I replaced my stock radio and speakers and was amazed at the clarity of sound - no hiss or distortion or whine from alternator.
Remote is useless. When installed on steering wheel, my hand blocks the IR transmitter.
I created a CD-RW with 41 MPGs nested in folders and it performed flawlessly. However with MP3s, you can't press and hold the next track button to fast forward like it let's you on music CDs without it skipping to the next track. A pain in the #$%.
The Advanced DSSA-Driver’s Sound Stage Adjustment is supposed to center the sound to the driver or passenger position instead of equally to the middle, but it instead removed most of the volume, stripped out the bass, and flooded you with mids. Better to leave DSSA off.
There is no channel scan. There is a preset scan. One other annoying thing is that to tune automatically, you must press and hold the tuner button for longer than a tap. Otherwise it will manual tune by default. There is no way to override this like other receivers do.
