Pros: Space-saving, noticeable low-frequency noise reduction, helps relaxing travel
Cons: "Noise canceling" label does represent an exaggeration...
The Bottom Line: Don't expect utter noise-less isolation, but rather somewhat reduced low-frequency background noise...

I had been meaning to get myself noise canceling headphones for a while, as an alternative to wearing earplugs every time I get into a plane to avoid the noise. I just ran across these in an airport, the price was reasonable (about $40), and so I decided to try them out.
While they do represent a very measurable improvement when it comes to one's ability to listen to music or movies in a plane or other noisy areas, I'd call them "low frequency filtering" rather than noise canceling. It does reduce some annoying background noise levels, but it most certainly does no cancel them entirely.
But since the main point is to offer a better ability to listen (music, in flight entertainment) without the usual cranking up of volume, these headphones do deliver quite satisfactorily when it comes to that. It improves one's ability to listen at lower output levels very much, and thus allows for a more relaxing travel experience.
They are not too bulky and fold together quite cleverly, which the space conscious traveller will appreciate every time. They come with several adapters for different in-flight entertainment standards, and merely require one AA battery to provide noise reduction (I'll stop calling it cancelation henceforth) for several hundred hours supposedly. When not turned on, they operate as plain vanilla normal headphones. You'll want to turn of the noise reduction when you are in a quiet environment, because the headphones do introduce some white noise in a quiet environment, and do not sound quite as rich.
I am not sure how well other, far more expensive noise cancelling headphones work compared to these. I have seen Bose headphones for well over $200, and while I am sure they are nice, they are too expensive to be exposed to the abuse of being crammed into my computer case, and also look quite bulky.
It combines space-saving practicality with very decent performance. Recommended.
