Pros: Inexpensive, but very good quality
Cons: Only one aux-in port.
The Bottom Line: Buy it, unless you've got money to burn.

| edhacker's Full Review: Aiwa NSX-D30 CD Shelf System |
I bought this unit today at A&B Sound in Calgary, after looking at what I thought were superior, but fairly expensive, alternatives (Sony, Panasonic, and JVC -- sorry, no model numbers on those). Sitting all by itself with no pricetag was the Aiwa unit. I had already decided that I didn't want the Aiwa due to it not being a big popular name brand. When we asked what the price was, I quickly became interested enough in it to have a listen. Much to my surprise, it sounded even better than the Sony with 'built-in' subwoofer, and cost $100 less! So I bought it. It sounds even better at home than it did in the store.
I was looking specifically for a fancy set of speakers for the computer, but wanted an FM radio, too. This unit has all that plus a 3-disc carousel changer, and dual tape decks.
It's nice and loud, too -- it easily fills the basement, and can be heard clearly on the top floor of the house -- without any real distortion problem. I've had it loud enough to be uncomfortable at close quarters, and can't hear any distortion at all!
Some may find that its single aux-in jack isn't enough, but if all you need is a sensible stereo system with a single input, along with all the built-in goodies, you can't go far wrong with the NSX-D30!
The remote is full-featured, too, but I doubt I'll use it much, as the controls are all right next to my monitor here.
