| track_runner's Full Review: Aiwa XP-R210 Personal CD Player |
As a music listener, I find that in order to get the best quality out of my CDs, you have to have a quality product. I've had CD players in the past before (Memorex was my last one), and after getting the Aiwa XP-R210 model, I am determined that there is no better CD player out there.
As a track runner, I listen to CDs to pump me up before my races, and I have never had such a well performing system.
One of the best features on this Aiwa is the fact that it has a radio. Sometimes you just don't want to listen to your CDs but listening to your favorite radio station would just hit the spot. Well now you can. With the option of presetting 30 stations (I don't even know 30 stations but the option is there!), and Mono/St switch option for better frequency. I find that it gets great reception, and the fact that it has the feature is unlike any other CD player I've seen out on the market.
This system has 48 sec. skip protection (EASS- Electronic Anti Shock System). It also has an option of switching from 48 sec. to 12 sec. skip protection. This comes in handy if your getting low on your batteries or you just don't need the full 48 sec. protection. Believe me, this system does not skip on me often. I can leave it on 12 sec. skip protection on a bumpy ride school bus and it doesn't miss a beat. I love it.
Other nice features are the AC adaptor hook up for if your near an outlet, the DSL Bass Boost, and another of my favorite features- a HOLD button. This allows you to listen to it and not have to worry about accidently switching tracks or shutting it off. More importantly it allows you to shut it off and not have to worry about it getting turned on and draining your batteries. Thats one of the worst things that can happen; wanting to listen to music and you found out you accidently turned it on and drained your batteries. Well, solution solved!
The only bad thing is the short cord that comes with the headphones. Sometimes it can be annoying because "stretching" to get something can be a burden. But then again the short cord also doesn't get in the way and doesn't dangle. So it is really personal preference. All in all this is an awesome portable CD player, and I wouldn't recommend any other.
