| melgapin's Full Review: Aiwa XP-V511 Personal CD Player |
The Aiwa XP-V511.What to say about it?I bought this player and I believe my money too have been well-spent.
Unlike what Freak369 says my player works just fine under harsh conditions. It doesn't skip and the E.A.S.S. isn't a deceiving marketing manouvre- it DOES work.
Of course you're not supposed to toss the player around as if it were unbreakable. But I can guarantee that it is VERY hard for it to skip.
Another thing : using the EASS doesn't reduce battery life - on the contrary!!!By using this feature on the 48scs anti skip position, the player lasts for about 30hrs : the time Aiwa claims it should last.Of course this depends on the quality of the AA batteries.I used Energizer too so I don't see what could have went wrong with Freak.
On the other hand, if you turn to the 12scs anti skip position then it DOES last for a few hours less - about 20hrs give or take a little.
As for anti skip being a joke : you didn't buy a jog proof player!!You simply bought a player that isn't supposed to skip while you are walking.Didn't you read the instructions? It says specifically that you mustn't subject the player to heavy shock or vibration...Jeez!Do you people even bother to read the instructions? And don't exaggerate saying that typing at the computer made it skip!!
For that price what did you want?CD-R and RW compatibility AND jog proof features??Wake up and smell the coffee! It's accessible and portable, what more do you want?
Freak, did you ever consider the possibility that your player is actually defective?I would if I were you, because I have no reason whatsoever to complain about this player.
As for the headphones it's known that ALL the phones that come with ALL the players (given some rare cases) are absolute crap.At least Aiwa admits they are crap and at the end of the instructions (that of course Freak didn't see)Aiwa recommends better headphones.
(Yes,the instructions, that little paper that comes with the player, inside its case...ring a bell?)
By the way the lock button doesn't concern the lid it only concerns the other buttons(play,skip/search,stop,etc.)...so that if you push them accidentally, the word "hold" will appear on screen meaning that the KEYS are locked,NOT (again NOT) the lid.If your player is either turned on or off when you use the "hold" feature, you can push the buttons all you want that nothing will happen!!NOTHING!!
About the slide button that opens the lid.It might not be very nice, but it has a function : with this button it's almost impossible to open the unit by accident,so why would you need a "lock" feature for the lid?
Finally the batteries.Freak's review was the absolute proof that people don't read the instructions carefully.Where does it imply that the unit's AC adapter only works with rechargeable batteries?I would love to know...But then I guess my instructions are not the same as Freaks'.
My opinion is that it's a great player! It fits my budget and it works with my CD-RWs...unlike Sony's jog proof players. The only Sony jog proof players that supports CD-RW playback are way out of my league...!!!
I guess the only thing I can say against it is the poor LCD display. It could be lit and show a few more details about the musics...but you can't have everything.
So if you people are looking for a player that you can carry in your backpack and cause no nuisance (noise, weight, bulkyness, price) this is the one to buy.
Believe me,you won't have to be extra careful with it...It doesn't skip that easily.Trust me.
