| tennis_player's Full Review: Aiwa XP-V713 Personal CD Player |
My portable JVC CD Player that I use for music in my office/study finally died. I was looking for a small, inexpensive CD player replacement when I came upon this new Aiwa player. I looked at the features and was impressed by the low price and the many features and it's small size. The biggest eye-opener is the 48 second memory buffer - not 10 or 20 seconds, but 48! And, it plays for 30 hours on one pair of AA alkalines! That's about 3 times longer than most older units. All of this for $69!
In addition to the above, it comes with headphones and AC/DC adapter. It even has a remote control on the headphone cord so you can have complete control at your fingertips while jogging, walking or hiking with the unit stored in a fanny pack carrier. It also features a two stage dynamic bass selection for deeper bass response. It has an easy to see L.E.D. battery status indicator and a lighted LCD display panel. This makes it really easy to see in the dark. It's a joy to use when traveling and I use it to relax before falling asleep in bed. It will also play standard CDs and CD-R/W discs.
The size is also a plus. It is smaller than the typical portable CD players. It is just slightly larger in surface area than a CD and about the same thickness as most of other units. It is very trim and reduced in bulk or mass when compared to most other inexpensive units.
It plays well and the batteries really do last a long time compared to my other CD players, by a considerable increase. It steps from track to track more quickly than the Sonys and JVCs. There is also less audible noise during the mechanical process of loading and moving to a different track.
The case is made of heat-resistant resin and comes in a bright silver finish. It is attractive, I think and very functionally designed.
The one single negative is the headphones. They are compact but do not sound as good as comparable headphones from Sony, Panasonic or JVC. You can use other headphones equipped with a stereo mini-plug, however in doing so, you lose the remote control feature.
I am impressed at how well this unit works with the nice features and the long battery life - all for $69!
