We stayed in Aladdin just recently, August 2003. My husband and I had been to Las Vegas last year as well, and decided to try Aladdin this time around.
Upon arriving, we were denied the type of room that we had requested, because the hotel had well oversold it's amount of rooms. Although we did get a room, we watched as the management turned away several other parties... so I guess we were lucky not to have to look for other acommodations.
Aladdin is huge, and very nicely decorated, with a middle eastern theme. Our room was adequate, with a king size bed, and a large bathroom, which had a beautiful oval tub, a separate stall shower and a water closet. The countertops were granite. They also included an iron, as well as a blow dryer. No coffee maker though! Our room was equipped with high speed internet computer, as well as a color tv... although with limited stations, and an armoire, two night tables, a desk and chair, an overstuffed chair, and a small dining table.
Aladdin has a mall attached to the resort. It was very convenient, and had shops of varying price ranges and tastes... everything from fine jewelry to an ABC store. Also in the mall are several restaurants. One is Cheeseburger at the Oasis, which is Hawaiian themed and can serve up a great burger! My husband and I also ate at the Italian restaurant across from the Oasis... I apologize, because the name escapes me. The Italian restaurant was a very nice atmosphere, although there lunch selections left something to be desired. I ordered the chicken sandwich, and it came out very dry and barely edible. My husband ordered a meatball sandwich and Caesar salad. He raved about the salad, but was very disappointed in his sandwich, it too was dry and not appetizing.
Within the casino itself, we ate at the Zanzibar Cafe, which has a huge menu, and you can choose from 24 hour breakfast, to Chinese specialties, to all American classics. We must recommend the pancakes, and the Cobb Wrap sandwich... they were excellent!
Our trip was only a long weekend, and we did not find time to look into their acclaimed spa, Elemis. We did, however, relax by one of the Aladdin's two roof top pools! They were great, and you could choose to bake in the full Vegas sun, or relax in the shade.
All in all, I would definitely stay at the Aladdin again, and would recommend it to anyone planning a trip to Vegas soon.
