After seeing the several TV ads for the Alavert, and finding a $2 off coupon in the sunday paper a few weeks ago, I decide to give it a try to see if it would be any better than my usual allergy meds of sudafed and chlor-trimeton.
So I went to my local Price Chopper, and found it on sale for $9-. After heading home, I tried it the next morning at 9AM, which I took for 3 days in a row.
I downed the little tablet with my usual breakfast and OJ like I usually do with my other allergy meds to hopefully help it take effect faster, as my allergies are horrible in the morning. They took about 30 minutes to an hour to take effect on me, but then again most drugs take the same time.
The first two days of use, I felt my allergy symptoms being relieved for most of the day, I stayed up late both days, until 1-2AM, and found that the medicine worked until about 8:30-9PM that night, which is what I was expecting it to do.
I mean, afterall, you can't have everything! :)
But the third day, I took it as usual with my breakfast and OJ, but 1 hour and a half later, I'm still completely congested as when I woke up in the first place. I was wondering if I even took it, but my husband swears he saw me take it. As the day dragged on, I went outside to go to Old Navy for some shorts, and found myself sneezing like crazy, and becoming congested again.
So, in short, I decided after not have complete 24hr allergy relief not to continue taking Alavert, even though I did not experience any side effects from it at all.
