pilarzmom's Full Review: Alberto Culver St Ives Olive Facial Scrub 5 oz
My eye caught the new "Elements" line of skin care products from St. Ives on a recent trip to my grocery store. In particular, I was attracted to their Olive Scrub, which they describe as a gentle exfoliant that also moisturizes since it contains olive oil and other natural emollients. It sounded nice to me so I gave it a try.
Product Details
This product comes is a 5 ounce olive green tube that stands on its flip-top end. Its regular price was $6.99 but I managed to find it on sale for $3.99.
The scrub itself is light green in color, with a creamy consistency. St. Ives does not state what the scrubbing particles are, other than being "natural", but they are visible in the scrub, appearing to be almost sand-like.
Scent wise, this does have a nice earthy, somewhat sweet, olive type scent, somewhat similar to some other olive-scented bath and beauty products I had used.

St. Ives Elements Olive Scrub, with all natural exfoliants, sweeps away dead skin cells and reenergizes skin. Olive Oil helps nourish the skin, leaving it feeling soft, smooth and moisturized.
My impressions
I like the feel of Elements Olive Scrub. The scrubbing particles do feel gentle on the skin, yet they're plentiful and don't dissolve away like some scrubs. Afterwards my skin does definitely feel smoother and not dried out.
However, there are some things I don't like about this scrub as well. First of all, it stings my eyes like crazy when rinsing. It also is not a cleansing scrub like some which combine cleansing and exfoliating into one product. I noticed the first few times I used this at night that there was still makeup left on my skin. So now when I use it I make sure to cleanse first before I use this.
Overall rating
St. Ives Elements Olive Scrub is a decent product in that it is definitely gentle on the skin and didn't cause any irritation to mine (just the eyes). However, it's not really the product for me as I prefer a product that combines cleansing and exfoliants. Overall, I wasn't too wowed by it and wouldn't recommend it.
