| ubitout's Full Review: Aleve Pain Reliever |
I take this only for period cramps. It's what works best, but you need to take it before they kick in hard for maximum relief.
I don't like to abuse pain medicine, but pain is not an option. I used to have a prescription for this stuff, many years ago, and it worked then. It's just alot easier to be able to buy it at the drug store.
My cramps are debilitating (although if you read my review of calcium, you'll see that they are much better!), and SHE who knows how I feel, doesn't need the pain re-described to her...
The minute I sense a wave of cramps, I wolf down two, and then I take 2 every 12 hours- yeah I know what it says on the package...
Now Advil works pretty well, but I need to take the therapeutic prescription dose (800 mg) to get serious cramp relief, and it wears off sooner.
As with other 'anti-prostaglandin'-ie a medicine which blocks the chemical pain-sending messages, not to be confused with the 'real drugs'- which tell your brain to feel no pain, it's best to take it before the pain gets too bad for the best results. I actually buy generic, but there's no category 'round here for that.
My ex used to take it for headaches, and it seemed to work- I dunno. Since I quit drinking, the only headaches I get are sinus, caffeine or hunger.
I have never felt a side effect whatsoever, but I never take it on a totally empty stomach...
