| Ladysmom's Full Review: Alka-Seltzer Heartburn Relief |
Ahhhhh heartburn, you know that awful burning feeling that starts in your stomach and churns its way up through your esophagus and into your throat.
On those days that you do get heartburn, you feel that your whole insides are on fire. That nasty acid is hard at work helping you to digest the food that you have eaten or in my case scoffed down so fast that you hardly knew you had eaten.
I have tried all the usual brands, Tums, Rolaids, Alka Mints, Mylanta, and Maalox and have gotten relief with some and with others it was a waste of money.
It would always seem that before the bottle was empty of the other brands that I would have to go on another search for something different as I wasnt getting the relief I needed.
About six months ago I came across a new product by Alka-Seltzer called Alka-Seltzer Heartburn Relief.
I never cared for the taste of regular Alka-Seltzer as it was always bitter and had a funny salty taste but I was getting to the point where I was needing something so thought I would give it a try. This comes in a box of 24 or 36. The first time I purchased the 24 but now have the 36 count ready and waiting just in case.
The box is a dark blue which makes it stand out a little better against all the other products that Alka-Seltzer makes but what really caught my eye is the box states that the tablets are lemon lime flavored. That should make it a little more palatable hopefully.
The information on the front of the Alka-Seltzer Heartburn Relief is what sold me, it states for fast relief of heartburn and acid indigestion. Neutralizes more acid than original Alka-Seltzer.
That evening after purchasing I had an attack of the killer heartburn and decided to try the Alka-Seltzer Heartburn Relief to see if it really got rid of the problem fast. Boy it sure did. It wasnt seconds after swallowing that I could feel the pain going away.
I think it took longer for the tablets to dissolve in the water than it did to get rid of the burning sensation.
Inside the box the tablets come two to a pack. You open one pack and drop the tablets into a ˝ glass of water or 4 ounces. Let dissolve and drink. I have to use cold water which makes it take longer to dissolve than room temperature but the flavor is better and works the same. This is for people 12 years of age and older.
The famous Alka-Seltzer fizz is there and if you wear glasses, be sure to remove them as you will get some of the bubbles on the lenses.
No where on the package does it say for people under the age of 12. If you feel your child has heartburn then you should have them checked by their physician.
You can do this once every four hours as long as you do not exceed eight tablets in a 24 hour period. I have never had to go back for a second round of this heartburn relieving cocktail.
People that are 60 and over should only take tablets in a 24 hour period.
The taste is pleasant and almost refreshing and does relieve fast. You can feel the relief taking place as it is going down. You can taste the lemon lime flavor and it is slightly sweet. The salty bitter taste seems to be a thing of the past.
I have since learned to eat slower, give up some of my devices that are known to cause heartburn or slow down on them and I can say that at most I only have heartburn once a month but when I do get it, I still reach for the Alka-Seltzer Heartburn Relief. This usually comes after I have eaten a very spicy meal such as boiled crawfish with plenty of red pepper to season them. Hey, this is the kind of food that really stands out when seasoned properly.
If you have persistent heartburn and cant get long term relief by changing your habits then you should go to the doctor and be checked. This could be an indication of something more serious going on within.
This is one product that lives up to the advertising of relieving symptoms fast.
Now for the ingredients and warnings from the box.
