Alka-Seltzer Plus what?

Pros: Easy to take, convenient, no fizz

The Bottom Line: Contrary to the claims on the box, this is product is useless for Sinus pain and pressure.

A funny thing happened when I moved from Texas to Virginia five years ago. Well, not so funny actually... rather irritating really. It seems I have sinus problems that react specifically to Virginia's abundant foliage. Grrrr Argh.
Being one who hates taking medicines of any kind, I toughed it out the first year. I'm a big one on self-healing. I believe the human mind can over-come a great many illness' on it's own if you let it. Well, there's a quirk in my brain. I've managed to heal cancer several times without medical treatment...but I cannot seem to get a handle on something as simple as my sinus'. What's up with that?
So... off to the drug counter. Yes, I wussed. *wail* I've tried a great many things in the last 4 years. Some sorta worked, Tylenol Sinus works the best, but I'm afraid I get little or no relief from Alka-Seltzer Plus Cold.
**The Claims vs Reality**
Relief from:
*Nasal Congestion - Sometimes it allows me to breath a fraction better, but not much
*Coughing - not a problem to begin with so no idea.
*Runny Nose - Barely noticable reduction here, but then it's not the main problem either.
*Headache - major problem for me, sometimes this OTC helps, more often it does not.
*Sinus Pain and Pressure - ahh the big daddy. This pressure is what causes the headaches, and a myriad of other bizarre symptoms so this is what I want relieved the most... and this is what Alka-Seltzer Plus does nothing for. Nada. Zilch.
**Various Other Info**
*This particular variety comes in Liqui-gels, which makes them very easy to swallow. This would be a great plus if they actually worked for me.
*Do not take if breast-feeding or pregnant without asking your doctor.
*Active Ingredients:
Acetaminophen 325mg
Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide 10mg
Doxylamine Succinate 6.25mg
Pseudephedrine Hydrochloride 30mg
That, folks, is as much as I'm going to list off the box. This product does not work for me. It may work for you. I know folks who swear by Alka-Seltzer and refuse to use anything else. Perhaps my system is just weird, but I cannot recommend this for the sinus claim. It just doesn't do it for me.
