| sanctus's Full Review: AllGlass Large Size Aquariums |
I confess. I really had a little 10 gallon goldfish tank in mind when I told my Grandma I wanted a fish tank for Christmas last year. But that's NOT what I got.
The all-glass large size aquarium was more than I had in mind, but it turned out to be perfect. This is a quality piece of equipment. The bottom has an additional brace across it to prevent bowing under the water pressure, which gives your HUGE tank a much longer life span. The top part is all one piece, completely sealed to the glass, and in the 8 months I've had this, not the tiniest bit of water seepage has occurred. The bottom glass of the tank is cut to go completely under all four sides for additional strength as well.
The glass is crystal clear, nice and thick, and can be drilled to accommodate fancy filters if you're into that. I'm not. I like the charcoal filters that hook on the back of the tank. Which means I also like lots of scavenger fish to keep the tank clean. I do freshwater tropicals.
This is not a tank for amateurs. You have to be really serious about wanting fish to put in the time to keep a tank this size up and running well. Luckily, even though I hadn't planned on a tank this size, I do have some background in tropical fish, so I was ready for it. Keep in mind, this tank is BIG. It will take up lots of space, and you want to be really sure you get a stand that can handle the weight of it.
While I selected tetra-neon as the "fish" I own, obviously in a tank this size I have MANY types. I keep tetras, gouramis, catfish, mollys, and danios. Make sure you're not mixing aggressive fish with community ones, though.
Enjoy!
