All-Clad Gold Standard Birthday Baking Set


My love of All-clad products continues with this wonderful birthday cake set…………….:


This is another fabulous product from All-Clad! I have adore these high quality high performance pieces of cookware and bakeware! This Birthday Cake Set is from their amazing baking line and is truly everything that it promises to be. I have historically used the glass Pyrex or even aluminum non-stick pans for my baking, but will never go back after using these beautiful gems.

I loved the idea of this special birthday set of pans from All-Clad because I got two pans at once plus a cute little booklet of recipes and even birthday candles and balloons (the candles and balloons are pretty gimicky, but the pans are a great deal)!

Out of the box…………………………………………………………….

These pans are 9 inches in diameter and made with a fabulous five-ply construction of two layers of stainless steel sandwiching an additional three layers of aluminum. There is a scratch resistant non-stick coating that is bonded permanently to the inside of them. All-Clad calls it something like vapor-deposited and it is an attractive champagne color.

These pans have handles on two sides for easy handling and good looks. They are a nice size for a variety of cooking jobs and can fit into both a conventional oven as well as a toaster oven. I had never made a successful double layer cake in my life and was very excited to try my hand at it again using a superior product!


Using the pans…………………………………………………………….

I made a real cake! It didn’t sink or burn or anything!!! I was so excited the first time I made a successful two layer cake with these that I actually took a picture of it and emailed it to my mother and a couple friends ( I know I am truly a nerd now). I have never been much of a baker so I was thrilled to have this be such a successful first experience with such a great product! My cake was beautiful and I have had many cakes since that are the envy of parties everywhere. I have actually convinced people I can bake and I owe it all to these pans!

Cakes cook evenly in these pans and they pull away nicely when cooling. It is extremely easy to flip the cake out of the pan to cool on a rack. They bake to a golden perfection and are easy to frost. I have had many successful ventures with some pretty creative cakes since my humble beginnings as a “baker”, but definitely owe it all to this birthday set.

I have even used the pans for other dishes as well and anything that I cook in them is thoroughly cooked and evenly heated through out. In addition, food does not stick to them due to the non-stick surface. All-clad claims that the coating is scratch resistant even to metal utensils. So far this is true. I try not to use metal on it just because it is so pretty, but when I have not been able to find another serving spatula around, I have been known to run a metal one right through the center of the pan. It has come through with flying colors. The coating is nothing like a Teflon sort of thing. It is truly bonded and part of the pan itself, rather than stuck onto it.

They can easily goes from oven to service at the table. I have found that All-Clad keeps the food warm as well for longer than I would expect. In addition, I can use any serving utensil I want because it does not seem to scratch from regular use.


Cleaning is simple………………………………………………………….

In addition to the magic of uniform cooking by true quality and workmanship, All-Clad pans are truly nonstick. Nothing sticks to these pans! A trickle from the faucet can get them clean most of the time because I turn the faucet on and most of the cake debris just washes right off. For really baked on food when I have used them in the toaster oven for non-cake dishes, a simple light rub takes anything right off. I wouldn’t have believed any of this if I had not seen it for myself!

I am unsure what the recommendation from the manufacturer is as to hand washing versus dishwashing, but I only use the dishwasher for everything and these round cake pans are no exception. They come out looking new after repeated trips through the dishwasher!


Lastly -

I am now a baker! We love these pans and they are fun to use. I have wowed people with the wonderful cakes that come out of my kitchen and will continue to do so for years with these pans!
