Pros:The pop/rock sound is back, catchy hooks, radio-friendly, fun music.
Cons:Just two tracks that are found near the end.
The Bottom Line: All I Ever Wanted will give Breakaway run for its success!
We all know who Kelly Clarkson is. The first winner of the show every family in America watches, American Idol. The small town girl made her dream come true when her debut album was released back in 2002. Her second album, Breakaway was a major success in 2004 and it is her definitive album. It is to this day the best Kelly Clarkson album(however, I beg to differ with her newest release!). Then, after a long wait to hear Kelly Clarkson back in the studio, she releases her third album, My December in 2007. The album flopped. It flopped so bad, many thought that was the end of Clarkson's career. The album was filled with depressing(her second album had that theme but it was still fun) music with horrid vocals and no catchy hooks in sight. Today, I declare that Clarkson is definitely back and I couldn't be happier!

The first single off this album is My Life Would Suck Without You. It ran up the charts with it's pop/rock sound; the guitars slash on the chorus as the beat caresses Clarkson's voice on the verses and man, the vocals are incredible. They are fresh, catchy and fun--the first single tells it all--she's back! Now, if they do not pick Don't Let Me Stop Youas the next single, they are definitely crazy! It is a clone to her smash hit off her second album, "Behind These Hazel Eyes". It has a very similar sound to the track that I don't need to describe. Clarkson's vocals are pure bliss on this track; she demands respect as she screams out a catchy chorus while on the verses, her voice sounds fragile, but strong enough. The track is one of my all-time favorites off this record and it will probably be the same way with almost all of her fans.
Now, this album is awesome, but you know what is even awesomer? Katy Perry wrote two tracks off this record, I Do Not Hook Up and Longshot. If only the two would team up to actually sing together, now that would be awesome! Anyway, you can definitely tell Katy Perry had her hand on the two songs. Not only because of the lyrics, but the melody of the songs are Perr-ish material! Screechy guitar work, hard-hitting bass and the b*tchy attitude! I love both of these songs and for a little fun, you can go to Youtube to hear both Kelly and Katy's versions of the songs. Both versions are equally good, but Clarkson has those incredible high notes...it's tough!
Now, the third single should definitely be If I Can't Have You. Not only is it a great dance/rock track that is seriously catchy, but Kelly's vocals like this have NOT been heard before and it is dead sexy! Oh gosh, it steams up my ears especially on the verses! Man, I love it! Although, I wouldn't put this up for a single, but Whyyouwannabringmedownis a fun little heavy-metal track that shows Clarkson's evil attitude with thrashing guitars and hard-hitting bass that will have your speakers screaming for silence. The album's title, All I Ever Wantedwould make a decent single. It's a little catchy, fun and Clarkson provides some mysterious vocal work that we've never heard before. Now, the fourth single has to be Impossible. I love the sound on this track; it's beautiful melody of guitar work, the gorgeous synth line, the delicate vocals by Clarkson...a very rare treat that will take you by surprise.
Kelly Clarkson has a beautiful voice. She can definitely work them hard-hitting rock tracks like no other, but she does a very emotional voice that will tear you up on ballads. Cry has to be my favorite ballad on the record. The guitar strings pull your heart in as the bass builds up for the tearful chorus of "Is it over yet, can I open my eyes, Is this as hard as it gets, is this what it feels like to really cry". Save You is another ballad, but this one has like a choir-feel to it. It is uplifting in its' own way and Clarkson's vocals doesn't disappoint. Although, I wouldn't actually call Already Gone a ballad since it sounds so much like Beyonce's Halo, but what the heck! Everything sounds a lot like Halo; the melody is scarily accurate and the vocals are in the same pace as Beyonce' did. A good transition I think. The last ballad and not to mention the last song, If No One Will Listen has all but a light piano tune with a faint bass line fill your ears as Clarkson delivers an emotional and uplifting vocal work.
Now, the only songs that I can not stand are Ready and I Want You. Both songs sound like they came from the carnival. More less on Ready than the other. I think the problem with both of them is that they are not memorable, especially I Want You since it is in the same way as Duffy's Mercy. I loathe I Want You and I don't care too much for Duffy. Funny how things don't work out, right?
Kelly Clarkson's fourth album is an album that shows and proves why she is America's favorite American Idol. I literally hated Clarkson's My December--it was so unlike her and it really was a flop and for good reasons! Now, since Kelly kind of took a break and went back in the studio with the right mind, All I Ever Wanted is almost a flawless album(minus the two tracks that are at the end) filled with radio-friendly pop/rock tracks that will have you dancing, singing the lyrics, and most of all, having fun! Kelly Clarkson is officially back!
