Pros: One Clump-Free Coat
Cons: Didn't experience thicker, longer lashes
I decided to try Almay Once Coat Thickening Mascara because I heard good things about. I found it at my local Walmart in a buy one get one free package for ~$6. The non-waterproof mascara comes in a .4fl oz tube that is white with a sliver cap. You can get it in waterproof which comes in a light green tube with a silver cap. I choose the non-waterproof in Black.

The first day I tried the Almay Once Coat Thickening Mascara I applied more than one coat. I think it was out of habit because I just felt the need to apply more coats, which probably equaled to about 5 light strokes. Right away I didn't notice "100% thicker lashes". Overall my lashes looked about the same except for being darker but I don't think it made my lashes thicker it was just the fact I applied black mascara. I was really disappointed because I wanted long, lush lashes. There was no clumping of the mascara which is a plus. At the end of the same day I noticed not a lot-but enough flakes around the bottom of my eyes. Not 100% raccoon eyes but enough to make me sigh in complete disappointment! I previously tried Maybelline Great Lash Mascara and loved the way it made my lashes long and thick but it also gave me raccoon eyes and there was some clumping. My thoughts right then were "Ok, the Maybelline gave me worst flaking but at least it did make my lashes long and full!!!!"
Because I didn't want to be 100% wrong about this mascara with it hopes and dreams for my eyes, I tried it the next morning. This time I made sure I only applied one coat-which was sooo hard!!! Strange how I just want to load the mascara on my lashes. But I was successful and applied one coat-well 2 coats but one on half my lashes and the other on the other half, ;-). Again, no real difference in the length or thickness of my lashes but again no clumping. However, by the end of the day I had minimal flaking. Flaking was so light I had to practically press my face against the mirror to see them. Ok, so THAT part of the mascara did work-well sort of because it says "no flakes"! and there were some, ;).
Being determined not to throw or return this mascara, I tried again. This time I applied many thick coats until I noticed thicker and longer lashes. I was able to achieve this but there was clumping and flaking! "Oh no, is this mascara determined not to work for?" Im guessing that it is so. The clumping and flaking was minimal and I guess I am just going to have to deal with it.
I did wear contacts with this mascara and did not experience any discomfort and irritation.
I did have some problems with the Almay Once Coat Thickening Mascara but it does go on smooth with one coat with no clumping and minimal flakes. I just didn't experience longer, thicker lashes without many coats which clumped and flaked. I will continue to use it because I feel it will work great just to throw on one coat to at least bring out the lashes I do have with out dealing with raccoon eyes and all. I will just have to continue searching for that perfect mascara for me. And I say me only because I see great reviews about different mascara that have yet to do for me what others claim it did for them.
