Yep, especially if it is the Burt’s Bees Almond Milk Beeswax Hand Crème. My hands and heels and elbows get very dry this time of year as now Cleveland is getting dumped with snow everyday and below 20 degree weather constantly. Unless I use something that protects and smells good, a pumice stone and I have to go to near mortal combat.
I don’t like pumice stones much at all in fact on my sensitive skin, it’s a scary thought. I also found actually over time, they destroyed my healthy subcutaneous tissue because the intense deep-penetrating sloughing of layers that was occurring, was rubbed too raw. But there is hope if I have to go to combat with the pumice.
The hope is found in this little jar of miracle bee product. It is crème and soft, silky, not greasy smelling like fresh roasted almonds bathed in a sweet milky substance. It is absolutely delicious although I have no intention of tasting it.
Almond Milk Beeswax Hand Crème by Burt’s Bees is housed in a glass see thru jar with a paper label that fits all the way around it. To open the lid which is safety enclosed and sealed you hold it and turn counter-clockwise. This breaks the perforated seal and allows you to see the crème inside. 2 ounces or 57 grams may not seem like a lot but there is definitely many applications therein. It glides on smooth and shiny and keeps its ‘shine’ for quite some time.
The ingredients (the best part of these reviews in my epinion) list is rather long BUT there is not one that I cannot pronounce or am not familiar with. I studied heavily chemistry and biology in both high school and college only to become a non-licensed psychologist who now has decided to take consumer awareness to new levels. I am very grateful Mr. Burt appears to take great care in providing what goddess has provided to help us heal and maintain a supple integument system (our skin).
Ingredients:
Sweet Almond Oil-- it is taken from the nuts found on the tree native to the Middle East.
Water-- obviously hydrogen and oxygen atoms
Beeswax-- is taken from the honeycombs and the more yellow it is shows more concentration of propolis and pollen oils, it is usually white in color until aging sets in.
Carrageenan Extract-- is an extract pulled from seaweed harvested from Atlantic Ocean waters near Continental Europe, North America and Britain. It is loaded with all the nutrients and minerals we need and is very digestible, except to infants under two years of age (the honey warnings).
Aloe Barbadensis gel-- is the essential healing oil taken from the Aloe Vera plant which probably originated in Northern Africa, Cape Verde, the Canary Islands and other arid geographical locations. I believe due to the presence of compounds such as polysaccharides, mannans, anthraquinones and lectins, this healing medicinal plant should be more widely used in the alternative healing therapies.
Kaolin (natural clay)-- is a mineral particle film and is a naturally occurring clay resulting from weathering of aluminous minerals such as feldspar with kaolinite as its principal constituent (ATTRA 2004). Kaolin is a common mineral, considered “generally regarded as safe” (GRAS) by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
Grapefruit Seed extract-- taken from the seeds found in the center where fleshy parts of the grapefruit hold tiny granules called seeds. Inside there is essential oil of this fruit which has been stated by some practitioners in the alternative medicine field to possess three of the best healing properties: antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal.
Sodium Borate-- natural borax is used to buffer the gel component in the crème. Instead of making the gel liquid-like, this gives it thickness and solubility, absorbability.
Glucose or sugar which is the monosaccharide, simplest sugar form there is and gives the sweetness to the almost bitter taste almond oil already has.
Glucose Oxidase-- is used to break down any disaccharides or monosaccharide of sugars into absorbable separate molecules of their own. This helps evenly spread the softening complex of the crème. It is a natural enzyme which helps in the gain or loss of an electron in the binding process.
Lactoperoxidase (natural milk enzyme)-- used because of its antimicrobial and antioxidant properties and peroxidases are known to play a part in increasing a plant's defenses against pathogens therefore any animal eating any plants that produce milk humans drink, I.e. cow, goat or rice or soy have this healing and soothing property naturally occurring.
Tocopherol -- is part of a class of chemical compounds of which many have Vitamin E activity. It is a series of organic compounds that consist of various methylated phenols which serve to activate skin rejuvenation at the cellular level.
Fragrance-- unspecified and I can’t assume it Is just almonds but gosh I sure hope so since it is not classified, I can only guess and that’s not proper. So thankfully a concerned consumer has the option to contact Burt’s Bees about this for the number is provided on back of the paper label.
DIRECTIONS: Apply a small amount of Almond Milk Beeswax Hand Crème to chapped, dry or rough hands, elbows, heels and feet. Massage into the skin and take a long inhale. It is 98.00% natural and of course that remaining 2% bothers me but this is the closest to PURE I am going to get.
So . . . If your hands and extremities are constantly exposed to harsh weather, detergents, dirt, and other aging-elements, this can stop that aging look and feel. In fact, when used regularly I actually sense the skin is being properly hydrated and protected so that re-juvenation and youth can be duplicated if not emphasized. At least I smell great all day long and I don’t have to fight that darn pumice stone !
Burt's Bees Almond Milk & Beeswax Hand Creme is roughly $2.50 or more for this little jar and you are good to go for about six months of cold to nearer warmer temperatures when this stuff works for summer itchiness-skin also.
Thank you for reading and
Enjoy !
