Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros:Very effective, gentle, not drying, inexpensive, works like a charm, for body and face
Cons:Not for fragile very sensitive skin
The Bottom Line: Amazing stuff. I am glowing and look younger. This works with my usual skin care products and really is effective!
I very rarely am blown away by any skin care product let alone a no name one like Alpha Hydrox Aha Enhanced Lotion.

Well I am blown away now and the whole Alpha Hydrox line is now a must have in my skin care regiment - both for my body and face!
About the Product
Concentrated pure glycolic acid (one of the most effective alpha hydroxy acids on the market) works diligently on your complexion, leaving skin visibly firmer, smoother, and more refined with a simple, once-a-day application of this treatment lotion. For added moisturizing benefits, pure vitamin E--long known to beautifully rehydrate skin--is also a key ingredient.
This lotion comes in a simple red box and is housed in a simple white plastic bottle with a flip open cap. What it lacks in fancy packaging, it makes up in results! The lotion is white and the consistency of sunscreen. It has no fragrance whatsoever.
I only bought this lotion because there was a sale at Drugstore.com where I could get a free Alpha Hydrox Souffle or sunscreen with any purchase of an Alpha Hydrox product. I ended up buying two different products and getting two products free. The reviews were overwhelmingly positive so I figured I'd give it a shot.
I have dry, aging skin and have a good skin care regiment but I am always looking for different products to use. Generally I'm disappointed and go back to my usual regiment and pass the new stuff on to one of my sisters. Not this time!
This lotion contains 10% pure Glycolic-AHA and also has Vitamin E and moisturizers in it. It's primary use is to exfoliate the skin similar to Retin A but without the peeling and harshness that the prescription product is known for.
I used it on my face, neck, and chest the first time. It didn't sting or burn and felt fine on my skin. It didn't even dry it out although I did use my usual moisturizer as the directions said to. I completely forgot about it and went to bed. The next day, I looked at my face in the mirror and did a double take. My skin was glowing. It looked like I had spent a couple of hours in the sun - not sunburned and damaged but glowing and healthy. Wow!
I used the lotion again, this time on my face and body. The next day, after my shower, my skin felt and looked amazing. It felt soft and silky and just looked healthier. The skin on my face really showed the most difference. I looked positively glowing like I never had before except when I had taken a sunny vacation.
I have used the lotion for a few weeks now and my skin from head to toe looks great. I have yet to try the 12% GHA Souffle but have used the cleanser and sunscreen and both are great. I just ordered more of all four of the products I have plus the foot cream. I don't want to be without this stuff! My fine lines are smoother and my skin is soft and poreless. It isn't sensitive or dry and I can incorporate my usual skin care products with the lotion.
The best part about all this is this whole line is inexpensive. This lotion was $11.99 for six ounces. The more concentrated face souffle is under $13.00 for about two ounces. And with the current special at Drugstore.com, I'm stocking up on everything!
Alpha Hydrox Aha Enhanced Lotion should be applied on clean skin anywhere that is dry, rough, or wrinkled. It doesn't burn or sting but the directions say that it is not for fragile, sensitive skin. I have used the lotion around my eyes, however, with no problems at all. My skin has not peeled or looked rashy. It just looks better. The rough patches on my elbows and even my heels are soft and silky and the tiny fine lines on my chest from too much sun when I was younger are almost gone. I'm hooked! I found what I needed to keep wrinkles and rough skin at bay and to exfoliate my skin with no irritation at all. And it's cheap! I have spent thousands of dollars on similar products - even bought Retin A from a an Online Mexican pharmacy (Disaster!) and there was Alpha Hydrox Aha Enhanced Lotion and the other products at drugstores all along!
My son uses the face wash and has used this lotion on his chest where he had a few blemishes. Zapped. Gone. He now uses the face wash all the time. That does not contain acids and is great for acne prone skin that tends to be dry. It is made for all skin types. I don't know how this stuff works to ease fine lines and clear skin up but it does both and doesn't dry the skin out doing it.
This lotion and all Alpha Hydrox products can be found at drugstores and mass-market stores on and offline. They are all priced very reasonably and there is a whole line from cleansers to moisturizers and everything in between.
After reading this review, I don't think anyone will be surprised that I am going with 5 stars for this lotion. Anything that makes my pale, lifeless skin look this good deserves it! This is a wonderful addition to anyone's skin care regime and works on the body and face. It is not irritating and doesn't dry the skin out. Apply a bit before using your moisturizer or body lotion and watch the magic happen!
Just know that if your skin is very sensitive and fragile, this may be a bit too strong for you. You may want to look for something with a lower concentration of Glycolic Acid.
