Pros: Very precise bass reproduction.
Cons: A rather deep mounting depth.
The Bottom Line: A great subwoofer for those who don't want to break the bank. High quality at a reasonable price. Need I say more?

I had not originally intended on purchasing the Alpine Type R. My intention was to buy an Audiobahn, but I waited too long, and they went up in price, rather significantly. I'd heard good things about Alpine, and settled for the Type R. Boy, if this is settling, I'll 'settle' every time. I was so pleasantly surprised by what came out of this sub. I had put it into a bandpass, and it was great, but when I tried it out in a sealed enclosure, I was simply amazed. It is rated at 300 rms, which is what I have it powered with, but I strongly believe it can handle more. If you want sound quality and thump that isn't boomy, this speaker fits the bill.
