| chauncey26's Full Review: Alpine SPR-694A Coaxial Car Speaker |
I'm the type of person who performs extreme research before purchasing an item. I have been studying MB Quarts, JL Audio, Alpine & Infinity. I most say, the Alpine Type R have a the best and smoothest sound. The JL Audio has a lot of bass and the tweeters screams at you. Of coarse this can be adjust, but a speaker must perform well without any EQ adjustment. The EQ should be flat so you can hear the true performance of the speaker. When I demo the MB Quart, the highs were not their. I'm not sure how the new comp. system 6x9 sound, but the lower level is not good. I asked the sales rep to add in some treble and he put it to the max, still no results. Infinity needs to work on the low freq. of their 6x9. They will bottom out at freq. they should be able to handle with ease. I have nothing against any of these companies, but they need to do a better job at making a equal sounding speaker. The thing that really gets me, is that I really don't have alot of love for Alpine equipment. Now, I have to bit the bullet and suck it up, because they are in the car now.
