| magplaid's Full Review: Alpine CDA-7894 Car CD/ MP3 Player |
Searching...
I am currently working on getting another car audio system together so I really wanted something that had very good sound quality and lots of features, but I really wanted the mp3 decoding ablility. I love having 13+ full cds on one cdr disk and being able to drive for long amounts of time and never switch cds. I looked at a ton of mp3 decks in the beginning but I really wanted something that would show id3 tags and also that had 4v preouts for my amplifiers. The only two I really looked at hard was the Pioneer mp3 deck and the Alpine 7894 deck. I had been reading about both online and I decided to purchase the Alpine 7894, I bought it on ebay for $325, not bad really.
The deck
After I received the deck and hooked it up to my car and it blew me away how much of a difference it made from my old deck the quality of the music, I could hear things I never could before on cds. One main point on hooking this deck up is that if your using internal power you must hook up some 12ga wire to the battery like you would an amp because the deck gives off more power than a standard one would (if not, then you can just hook it up normally and turn off the internal amp on the settings of the deck). I noticed first hand that this had a very bright display and a rotary knob, which I loved, I was also very fond of the remote because it wasnt one of those credit card sized ones it was a little larger and easy to hold. First thing I did was pop in an mp3 disc to look at what I could do, the title button on the deck scrolls through the various information of the mp3 such as: track number and folder number, ISO9669 filename, id3 information, and bitrate. You can also control the sound by the internal crossover, bass and treble control, subwoofer level, and lots of other features I haven't even tried yet. The deck also tilts 3 different angles at a push of a button for a really cool look and it makes it easier to see if the sun glares at the deck often. The display is great at night, sometimes it gets to bright but you can switch between green or amber color on the deck.
Buy it now!
This deck is remarkable, I plan to keep it for a long time it's got so many features and the manual is nice and thick. This is definately worth the money you pay for it.
