Pros: Clear and Crisp
full Feature unit
Clear perfection from 4V preouts.
Ergonomically well engineered.
Cons: some of the setup features for a do-it-yourselfer might be a bit overwhelming.
The Bottom Line: Buy it, and you'll be sitting in your garage listening to music instead of in your house.

| bshipman's Full Review: Alpine CDA-7894 Car CD/ MP3 Player |
I've been into car stereos a long time. The industry has come a long way in the past 20 years. Alpine has certainly raised the bar on this line of head units. First, Alpine has finally returned to the traditional volume knob -- a major plus when your mom borrows your car...apparantly, the one alpine engineer finally retired who opposed this design!
This alpine unit obviously contains enough options for all designs and applications. From a high-end implementation with external amps utilizing the 3 - 4V preamp outs, to a simple implementation utilizing the internal 60W X 4.
This was my first experience with MP3 discs. The player sounds almost as good with MP3s as it does with factory CDs. I personally can't imagine needing any more features and options in a head unit than this one -- it far exceeded my expectations.
Small nit-picking remark: rather "feature overwhelming" at first pass... I mean, being able to perform "time correction" for managing distance imaging between various speakers... People Please, it's a car!
