One of the best subs for under $200.

Pros:Tight accurate bass, sleek design, competition ready, rock solid performance.
Cons:None
The Bottom Line: If you are looking for tight accurate bass or just have limited space there isn't a better sub for the money. Properly set up out-performs 2 lesser 12"s.

This is a truly awesome speaker. I purchases this speaker about 2 years ago and installed it as a mid bass sub in my system. I've since added 2 additional units and am thrilled with their performance. I have one installed in a sealed enclosure and the other two are in a custom bandpass box.
When installed in a properly sized sealed enclosure the accuracy of this sub is hard to beat. It is responsive and punchy, not at all boomy. The speaker works best (in a sealed enclosure) when driven with around 350-600 watts RMS it is rated at 500 watts continuous and will preform quite well at this level. Heat is not an issue with this sub, the voice coils dissipate heat adequately even when played continuously at 500-watts. To get the most out of this sub you should keep the voice coils loaded, this is somewhat easier to achieve in a sealed enclosure as they are more forgiving. I recommend 350 watts minimum power to this sub in a sealed enclosure, at 200-watts the sub is underpowered and becomes noticeably unloaded.
When installed in either a ported or bandpass enclosure the sub is considerably louder, with a minimum loss of accuracy. The sub requires about 300-500 watts RMS power in a ported enclosure to preform at its best. I wouldn't give it more then 500 watts though. The subs are loud enough to be used in competition, yet are great when it comes to sound quality as well.
To get the most out of these subs I suggest using 8ga speaker wire. and placing the amp as close to the battery as possible. When properly installed these subs will deliver as well as the 12" versions. To be honest I like the sound of the 10" better the the 12" type R's. The 12" are slightly more boomy whilst these are tight. They preform best at frequencies between 43hz-200hz but this will depend upon the type of enclosure and its tuning. If you are looking for deeper bass i.e. below 35hz I would recommend a 15" type R. Since when it comes to reproducing low frequencies there is no replacement for displacement. a single 15" had more cone area then 2 of these guys.
As I said i am using three of these for mid bass, I have one in a sealed enclosure tuned to about 80hz for accuracy and SQ and and two of these in a bandpass tuned to 45Hz. This provides me with the best sounding kick drums and bass. I also have a 15" type R for the low end in a ported enclosure tuned to for the synth bass and anything that falls below 40Hz.

I couldn't recommend a better sub for the price. A single one of these can and will out preform 2x 12" lesser subs. Ideally I would recommend pairing one of these with a 15" for the best over all sound. These guys are also great when space is an issue. A single one will fill the average sedan with pure clean bass. These subs are great looking too! These guys hit hard and accuratly. I can't stress enough the importance of pairing these subs with a quality amplifier, they need a fair amount of power to sound their best due to their limited cone area. You won't be disappointed with this sub.
