My aunts black lab mix is a picky brat. If he doesnt like something, he prefers not to eat and will push the bowl halfway across the garage, with his nose, until it is away from where he likes to lay. But can you blame him? No, because I definitely would not eat the things that I do not like. But yes, because he seems to be overly picky. But thats not all his fault, I have never seem a dog eat as much table food that this dog does. Hes constantly getting leftovers. And heaven help you if you walk out into the garage with food in your hand.
In a quest to find something that he would not push away, my aunt has often turned to Alpo. Simply put, he eats only Alpo and Skippy, without contemplating it for to long.
Alpo Prime Cuts is definitely a dog food that my aunts dog has grown to like very much. The food itself is for adult dogs and puppies, and comes with chunks of meat mixed in with gravy. My aunt buys this stuff in a 13.2 oz can with a flip-top easy open lid. Alpo claims that this food provides complete and balanced nutrition for the growth and maintenance of dogs.

~*~ My Thoughts ~*~
Alpo and Skippy have been the two brands that my aunts dog has seemed to enjoy the most. Of course, he gets fed twice a day. But he only gets canned food at night, mixed in with some dry food. Its dry food all the way in the morning
and the dog doesnt seem to appreciate that much. But he is getting old, and the Vet has recommended that he limit is intake because he doesnt get around much anymore. But, of course, you should adjust feeding quantities to meet your own dogs diet.
Mugsy seems to really enjoy both Alpo and Skippy. He usually will let you know when he doesnt like something. He has been known to push the food bowl across the garage, out of his view, when he doesnt like something. Hes very picky, but both Alpo and Skippy seemed to have past his inspection.
The favorite flavor in our house is the Prime Cuts. He likes chicken also, but eats up the beef quicker. So we assume that he likes it better. My aunt usually pays around $.69-$.79 regular price for this Alpo, before using a coupon. But she has also found this stuff on sale 2 for $1 at odd times.
I am thrilled that Alpo has managed to come up with a nice flip-top can. This way, we never had to use a can opener to open the dogs food. It sure can get a little messier that way. And the best part is that the can is made of steel, which is recyclable.
As with most dog food, Alpo is not the best smelling stuff in the world. Its not as bad as some other brands, but it definitely doesnt smell appetizing to me. More often than not, the Alpo comes sliding out of the can pretty easily.
Widely distributed, cheaply priced, and the dog seems to love it. What more could you want?
