| Birdfeather's Full Review: Alpo Prime Cuts Canned Dog Food |
Alpo Prime Cuts in Gravy With Beef and Liver was served up for Anna and Fudge's dinner tonight. I'm offering soft foods to Anna since she is busy these days nursing 4 sweet little puppies. The soft food is more
easily digested and easier on her system at this time.
About Alpo Prime Cuts
When I first opened the can of Alpo Prime Cuts I was surprised by not being offended by a rank and strong odor that most canned dog food (and even worse with cat food) seem to have. This was a pleasant surprise to say
the least! This food has little bite size pieces of Prime Cuts in a hearty gravy. The flavor I served Anna and Fudge tonight was Beef & Liver. Alpo Prime Cuts comes in a 13.2 size can and is just about the right size for two small dogs to dine on. I actually served each dog 1/3 of the can. This was a nice size portion for a small dog. Purina advises to refrigerate any unused portion for use later. Alpo Prime Cuts is for adult dogs and puppies alike so this will be a food I can offer the puppies when they get to weaning stage (if I can't find another food without by-products).
How My Guys Liked Alpo Prime Cuts
Anna, the food lover of the two, dove right in and had her bowl completely cleaned out before Fudge was even half-way finished with his dinner. I guess you can say he was savoring each bite and enjoying the change in diet. He also cleaned out his bowl and licked up every speck of gravy left. This food was enjoyed by both of my mini daushunds.

My Final Thoughts on ALPO Prime Cuts
Although Purina claims this product provides a complete
and balanced diet, I am not thrilled with the addition of meat by-products. I will not continue to feed this to my dogs on a regular basis. In fact, I believe I will check out the ingredients in the canned Ol' Roy dog food on my next shopping trip. Several of their dry dog foods are "by-product FREE". 3.5 Stars!
