| BlonbabyDawn's Full Review: Alpo Prime Cuts Canned Dog Food |
As I had mentioned way back when Pets section first came out, my golden retriever/ lab mix dog, Buddy had, had problems gaining weight when we first got him. We had tried all the more expensive brands of dog food, and came to the conclusion that price doesn’t always mean quality. Alpo Prime Cuts in Gravy has quickly become a favorite canned dog food in my home. Not only because of value, but also because we are quite satisfied with how Buddy responds to this food. He is EXCITED about food time, of course what dog isn’t, but when we first got him, eating time was not something he was interested in. He’s not so picky anymore, but Alpo still gives us a high quality product that we don’t want to do with out.
Alpo Prime Cuts in Gravy is made for dogs and puppies, so you do not have to worry about the hassle of changing your little ones dog food as he grows. This is a big plus, because most of us dog owners know how sensitive nearly all dogs stomachs are. Changing a dog’s food too quickly can upset their stomach and give them a bad case of diarrhea and/or gas and cause them a bit of discomfort. With Alpo, you won’t have to worry about that. Start them out early with it and you can continue it throughout adulthood. Just remember that puppies, pound for pound, require two times as much food as adult dogs!! It is recommended to leave your puppies food out and down all day long, so that it is easily accessible for them.
Alpo Prime Cuts in Gravy comes made with Natural Whole Chicory root. This root is used to promote your dog’s digestion and overall health. This root is also used to improve bacteria levels day after day. Your dog’s life could be expanded as a result of this, and there isn’t anything I won’t do to help my furry Buddy live longer.
On the back of each can is a growth chart that helps you figure out how much you should feed your dog each day. Starting with the smallest of dogs, 3-12lbs eating 1 1/2 cans a day of Alpo Prime Cuts in Gravy ending with 100lbs or larger eating 1 can per 15 lbs of dog’s weight.
I usually mix this wet dog food with Buddy’s dry dog food. I mix 1 can with 2 cups of dry dog food two times a day, and that is how Buddy is fed. In fact he has stayed at his normal weight, has been just as active and has no stomach problems at all with Alpo Prime Cuts in Gravy. Alpo says this, If desired, mix with ALPO dry dog food. One 13.2 oz. can of ALPO replaces 1 cup of ALPO dry dog food.”
Alpo Prime Cuts in Gravy come in a variety of flavors for your furry friend. Among the favorites of Buddy, are Chicken, Beef and Beef &Rice. Of course there are many more with Liver being another favorite, so you won’t have a problem with an extensive variety to choose from.
This canned dog food is not too watery either, but there is enough to mix around with dry dog food and keep it wet. The chunks are bite size and very tender, so any dog would be able to chew these up without a problem.
