The Bottom Line: The best speakers in its class. Clean, intense sound. Great looks. These are the BEST and I highly reccomend them to any audiophiles.

Pros Continued
These are definitely great speakers that will almost certainly surpass the sound need for most computer users. The 400 watt maximum is sure to play your favorite tunes with ease along with your most intense games. The speakers are also look great next to your computer withc real metal accents, unlike some other speakers and they actually come with a wall mounting kit that allows you to mount 2 of the speakers behind you for great sound. The remote is also great, because unlike most other speakers, you can control the bass, treble, and fade without having to reach around behind the subwoofer or use knobs on the speakers themselves. The technology of these speakers is very similar to that of home speakers, helping them to sound incredible. The highs and the mids are very clear and distint from the bass. Even at their limits the sound still remains incredibly clear and accurate. Another great feature is the option to fade out the rear speakers so you can play your CD's more accurately.
Cons Continued
Once again, price becomes an issue for me. These speakers are heavy and get expensive to ship if you order them online or if your looking to purchase them in a retail store look for the high price tag of $199. A lot of users all will not enjoy the 'true' high definition sound because of a lack of a good sound card with support for 4.1 speakers. They will still work, but not as well. The last issue is the 'wired' remote. For $200 they still give you a wired remote. The cord is not very long and can get in your way.
Sound for varios uses
CD's, MP3's
These speakers will pump out your cd's, etc. like a champion. The bass will get your heart beating and the highs will absolutely amaze you. It will bring new life into your old music. I find that I like to turn off the rear speakers to full appreciate the high end sound of these speakers.
DVD's, VCD's
I would buy these speakers in a heart beat because I watch DVD's off of my monitor. The 4.1 channel sound will bring the movie theater to you and really helps you forget that you are watching a movie through a little 21" Monitor. If you have support for a 4.1 channel speaker system and run wires and mount the rear speakers behind you, then you will truly be able to appreciate the high end sound and effects. My girl friend as a Bose Lifestyle 5.1 speaker set and I am convinced that my Altec Lansing not only look better but sound clearer.
Gaming
These speakers were meant to bring your games to life and really get you into them. From the stalks of grass stems quietly blowing in the wind one second, to unloading a bass intense clip of an M-4, this truly is the total package. If your game has surround sound support than you can hear where sounds are coming from, back, left, right, etc. and no other speakers I have heard come close to beating the sound of the altec lansing speakers.
