Pros: Price, Great looks.

Cons: Audible hiss from back channel. Center channel is underpowered. Subwoofer not deep.

The Bottom Line: You get what you pay for. If you want a decent speaker set you have to spend a bit more.

These speakers really sound good and have a great look. Like all speakers in this price range, you pay for what you get. The cords and plugs are fantastic. No flimsy cheap cords in this package. However, the subwoofer sounds odd. The base is sharp rather than deep. The rear speakers also have a fairly audible hiss. The center speaker is underpowered. I had to return this unit because the front cover of the subwoofer became loose and vibrated. For the price they are good speakers. I am just going to buy a more expensive set.

Altec usually makes great speakers. I am sure the only reason these had problems is because they were trying to make them budget speakers. I will still buy Altec products, just not the budget ones.
